ZhenShi Korean Cuisine opened its second Singapore outlet 2 days ago on 27 May 2023. This branch in Parkway Parade joins its sister outlet in NEX Mall, and is having a 20% off promotion on selected items until 15 Jul 2023.

On that discount list are BBQ Spicy Chicken with Rice (S$7), BBQ Spicy Pork Belly with Rice (S$7.80), Cheese Spicy Chicken Kimchi Fried Rice (S$7.80) and Spicy Chicken Bibimbap (S$7.80). (All prices before discount)

ZhenShi Korean Cuisine Parkway - Army stew

I decided to try ZhenShi Korean Cuisine’s also-discounted Army Stew (S$15.92, U.P: S$19.90) as the pot looked very inviting at the table next to mine. The shallow pan arrived, filled almost to the brim.

Besides the mass of instant noodles in the centre and a mass of glass noodles on the side, there were 4 medium-sized pieces of chicken, sliced chicken sausage, 2 bunches of enoki mushrooms, tofu, sticky rice cake, bean sprouts and a lot of cabbage.

I liked the tomato-ish soup but loved the chicken sausage, which surprised me. It helped that the dish was not as spicy as its threatening red hue. Diners can help themselves to the soup at the counter.

ZhenShi Korean Cuisine Parkway - Soy Sauce Garlic Fried Chicken Rice

I also tried the Soy Sauce Garlic Fried Chicken Rice (S$7) which, unfortunately, was not covered under the opening discount promotion. Beautifully simple in its presentation inside the stylish gold-coloured pan, the dish came with a side of kimchi.

It’s hard to be surprised that Korean chicken is so perfectly crisp and tender at the same time. I savoured the light garlic hints, which were accompanied so well by the drizzle of sweet soy sauce.

After the Army Stew and the Soy Sauce Garlic Fried Chicken Rice, I really didn’t have space for more but the Fried Chicken with Corn Cheese (S$18.80) looked good for next time.
