Another one bites the dust – 333 Claypot Frog Porridge & Seafood (333砂煲田鸡粥海鲜煮炒) will close on 31 Mar. Known for its claypot frog porridge and classic zi char seafood dishes, 333 Claypot Frog Porridge & Seafood has built a reputation, serving comforting, hearty supper dishes late into the night.

Unfortunately, citing rising rental and labour costs as their main reason, the owners have decided to cease operations this March. Future plans for the space include a major renovation following the potential entrance of a Chinese restaurant focusing on Chinese-style food.

Open until 4.30am daily, the restaurant cooks up homey claypot frog porridge with deep-fried frog legs, with some patrons claiming that it is comparable in quality to more established frog porridge spots. Others have mentioned that their porridge is intentionally mild so that diners can mix in the rich sauce from the frog claypot.

Other dishes that have garnered high praise include their black pepper crab, assam fish head, brinjal with minced meat, and curry fish head. These dishes are best ordered for group dining and dish sharing. Their brinjal with minced meat dish is a personal recommendation by the Lady Boss, and would be best suited for brinjal lovers.

The store is also running a promotion: 2 crabs for S$48! They have crabs available in different flavours, including black pepper crab, chilli crab, and salted egg crab

Another promotion (rarely do I see 2 going at the same time): members of the Can Eat! SG Facebook group can enjoy 10% off their bills upon informing the cashier at the checkout counter.

As with many beloved eateries, its closure marks the end of another chapter in Singapore’s ever-changing food scene. With just a few weeks left before the shutters come down on 31 March, diners who have yet to experience their comforting dishes may want to make a trip down while they still can, or order their dishes via foodpanda.

For longtime patrons, it may be the perfect opportunity to return one last time for a familiar supper spot that has served many late-night meals over the years.
