Planning to visit Ang Mo Kio soon? If you’re visiting anytime between 8 Jun and 7 Aug, avoid 409 AMK Market & Food Centre as it will be closed for repairs and redecoration work.

Also known as Teck Ghee Square, the food centre is located at Ang Mo Kio Ave 10. Besides 409 AMK Market & Food Centre, you can also find 2 other food centres on the same road, one located at Blk 453A and the other at Blk 527. What a privilege it is to be a foodie in this neighbourhood!
409 AMK Market & Food Centre is home to over 90 market stalls and more than 35 hawker stalls. Before 8 Jun, you may want to squeeze in a visit to the food centre, because after that, you’ll have to wait 2 months to visit.

A stall you might want to drop by is Hup Seng Huat Cooked Food (#01-22), which has been around for over 40 years. On 20 May, a Facebook post informed readers that the friendly Aunty manning this stall may be retiring soon, and her last day of business will be 7 Jun.
If you’re a patron of this stall, do make another trip there, because it may just be your final visit to enjoy her delicious wanton noodles.

Another stall worth visiting is Han Jiang Fish Soup (#01-15), which offers fresh fish and thick slices of batang (Spanish mackerel). Their soup also contains salted vegetables, cubes of tofu and lettuce.
Other stalls that have remained popular at this hawker centre include 33 Vegetarian Food, Bedok 511 BBQ Chicken Wing and Wang Ji Hainanese Chicken Rice.
While you won’t be able to visit these stalls during the 2-month closure period, you can still drop by the neighbouring Blk 453A and Blk 527 hawker centres, as well as other food centres in Ang Mo Kio. Hopefully, in Aug, Teck Ghee Square will reopen with a fresh and inviting look!
