Durian Ang Moh: Get Your Durians Opened & Served By This British Ang Moh In Hougang

Buying durians is an experience all on its own, usually from a middle-aged uncle who tries to convince you that his durians are the best and that you should definitely try the D24 or Mao Shan Wang.

So if you ever stumble across this stall called Durian Ang Moh in Hougang, you can be forgiven for wondering what on earth a foreigner is doing working at a durian stall.

Luke Otter first tried the fruit when he first became a Singapore Permanent Resident and slowly fell in love with it, resulting in him opening a stall in Hougang. But he’s not the only one; there’s another stall in Bugis specialising in Thai durians that was opened by a Greek businessman. Sadly the season for durian is almost over, but Durian Ang Moh has promised that they’ll be back at the end of the year, so if you’re tired of struggling to converse (in broken Mandarin) with durian sellers like me, there’s hope for you at these stalls!
