Are you a fan of Japanese ramen? If you are, look forward to Ippudo SG’s newest outlet opening at Raffles City Shopping Centre on 14 August 2020.

This will be their eighth dining store in Singapore.

The new outlet is set to feature an island counter table with high chairs for a more communal ambience.

To celebrate, Ippudo is serving up a new Singapore-exclusive item: the Shaka Shaka Salted Egg Yolk Fries. Just the sound of that name hints at its addictive quality.

These thin-cut fries come with a salted egg yolk seasoning that evenly coats them in a rich umami flavour.

I feel like people are very diverse in their fries preferences—some like them thin while others prefer a thicker cut. Some like ridges and some don’t. These Ippudo Shaka Shaka Salted Egg Yolk Fries take a thinner, smooth cut, which suggests a crispier bite to them.

With a thinner cut, you’re more likely to pay attention to how the seasoning pairs with the potato. I prefer this combination way better than thick-cut fries, where the limelight falls more on the texture inside the fry. Thick fries seem to go better with dips and sauces instead, in my opinion.

The Shaka Shaka Salted Egg Yolk Fries sounds like the perfect side to their famous ramen. The rich flavour of salted egg yolk alongside their creamy, thick ramen broths seem like the makings of a satisfying meal.

Dine at Ippudo’s outlet at Raffles City Shopping Centre from 14 August 2020 to try the new exclusive Shaka Shaka Salted Egg Yolk Fries for yourself. Do remember to follow their social media updates as they approach opening day. You can check them out on Facebook and Instagram.
