There are few things I find harder to resist than a bowl that promises to satisfy two cravings at once. Give me ramen for its rich, comforting soup and springy noodles, then throw in generous cuts of fatty beef, and you already have my attention. That was precisely what drew me to Teow Kee Beef Noodle.

A Penang-born favourite that recently made its first move out of state, opening its KL outlet near TRX in August 2026, its take on beef noodles borrows freely from different noodle traditions. A milky, collagen-rich soup slow-boiled with beef bones and marrow, springy noodles, and even a jammy ramen egg.

Tucked upstairs in a shophouse, the restaurant is accessed via a small staircase.

Inside, the cosy space has an almost Japanese ramen-shop feel. It is a rather charming little hideaway from the bustle of TRX.
What to order at Teow Kee Beef Noodle
I was hoping to try both the wet and dry noodles, but only the soup noodles were available during my visit, alongside a handful of snacks. So, we settled on their 8-Topping Soup Noodle (RM35).

The portion immediately impressed me. For RM35, the bowl was generously loaded, particularly considering just how much beef was packed into it.

The soup was unmistakably beefy, with the slow-cooked bones and marrow lending it a creamy, almost tonkotsu-like body. It was richer than the lighter, clearer beef soups you might be accustomed to, but that worked particularly well alongside the generous toppings.

The noodles had a satisfying springiness and held their chew well throughout the meal.

The bowl itself was practically a showcase of beef trimmings, piled with brisket, minced beef, tripe, beef balls, beef fat and sliced beef, alongside a huge chunk of white radish and a jammy egg.
The brisket and beef slices were easily my favourites. Both leaned towards the fattier side, which was precisely what I wanted, yet remained incredibly tender. In fact, these were among the best-tasting brisket and beef slices I’ve had in a bowl of soup noodles. Rich and juicy without becoming tough, they gave the bowl the indulgence that makes you reach for one more bite even when you’re already quite full.

The white radish offered a welcome counterpoint, bringing a softer, cleaner texture to a bowl otherwise dominated by rich beef.

You can also add pickled radish and chilli oil to your bowl, if you’d like.

We also ordered the Salted Egg Yam Balls (RM8.80 for 3 pieces) to round off the meal. The filling was savoury and moreish, while the yam exterior reminded me of a softer, less chewy version of mochi. Fried until lightly crispy on the outside, they made for a satisfying little snack between spoonfuls of noodles.
Who is Teow Kee Beef Noodle best for?
If you enjoy hearty noodles, there’s plenty here to like. The cosy setting works nicely for a casual meal with friends, and I could even see it doubling as a low-key date spot.
The restaurant is also popular among office workers in the area, so lunchtime can get busy.
One thing to note is accessibility. As the restaurant is located upstairs with no lift, it may not be suitable for wheelchair users or diners who have difficulty navigating stairs.
How to get there?
You can drive to Teow Kee Beef Noodle, although traffic around Jalan Imbi can be less than ideal during peak hours.
For a more convenient option, walk from TRX MRT Station, which takes around 8 minutes. Given the congestion in the area, I’d personally take the train and walk over.
Do we recommend Teow Kee Beef Noodle?

Yes. If you’re the sort of person who can never decide between ramen and beef noodles, Teow Kee might just be the answer to that particular dilemma.
The rich beef soup, springy noodles and generous assortment of toppings make for a satisfying bowl, but the tender, fatty brisket and beef slices were what really won me over.
Add a cosy setting and easy access from the MRT, and Teow Kee Beef Noodle makes a compelling case for your next TRX food run — particularly when the craving calls for something rich, beefy and deeply comforting.
