Admit it—us Singaporeans have a habit of over-indulging whenever we visit Kuala Lumpur, and more often than not, we return home with shopping bags full of stuff we probably don’t need. A trip to the salon or the masseuse is almost stapled with every visit, and check this out—the next time you want to pamper yourself with a new ‘do, why not go all out by getting yourself a gourmet drink and a slice of scrumptious cake while you’re at it.
A new cafe has opened in Petaling Jaya, a city to the east of KL, that is actually both a hair salon and a cafe in the same building. The cafe, called Half n Hafu, splits directly in the middle—hair salon on one side, and a cafe on the other.
The interior mysteriously reeks of a shy, artistic eye and is well-curated—much like their Instagram feed. The cafe serves a unique drink called the Mocha with Dry Bitter Orange, which requires a special way of drinking that can only be made known if you ask the barista how, according to their Instagram post.
A new cake is featured weekly, with past selections including a Matcha Chocolate Vertical Cake, a Lavender Orange Chiffon and Burnt Butter Carrot Cake.
It seems the cafe has it all covered—if you’re lactose intolerant, they serve coffee with Oat Milk, and they claim it’s not half as bad as you might think it is. They also serve toast with a matcha spread, which to be completely honest, looks super delicious. I honestly cannot wait to try it for myself one day, but for now, the pictures are all that I can treat myself with.
There is no menu to be seen online at the moment, so price-wise, it’s hard to tell. Regardless, I’ll be keeping my eyes set on this one, for the next time I’m allowed to head up north for a visit.
