Muslim-owned The Halal Corner serves affordable western food, and the North will certainly miss them. The Yishun branch, which opened in 2021, was their second outlet. However, not to worry! They are still operating at their existing locations at Haji Lane and Bedok.

Some crowd favourites include the Carbonara Beef Steak Mr John (S$7.50), which is a western take on a classic dish and consists of soft roti stuffed with beef cubes and covered with housemade Carbonara sauce. On top, chilli and cheese sauce are generously drizzled all over the bun, soaking the bun in savoury and spicy flavours.

Samyang Cheesy Chicken Pasta (S$7.50) jumps on the Korean spicy fire noodle trend by combining the Samyang sauce with pasta. Nevertheless, one cannot go wrong with the cheese as it helps to take the bite out of the spicy sauce. Plus, it is complemented by the crispy chicken cutlet, giving it a well-balanced bite.

The Halal Corner also has a DIY menu where you can create your own concoctions of meals.

There are three steps one can take to Be Your Own Chef. First, you choose a spaghetti base, ranging from Lemak Chilli Padi Pasta (S$7) to Truffle Cream Pasta (S$8). Next, you can choose a main ingredient, where four out of five requires no top-up, except for Sliced Beef (S$1). Lastly, you can add on more ingredients like Fries, Extra Pasta (S$1.80), and Egg (S$1). After adding things to your hearts’ desire, your very own creation has come to life.

We will surely miss The Halal Corner at Yishun. Thank you for serving up delicious food for the past year!
