I’m sure many of you were disappointed upon hearing the news that ORTO Yishun will be ending its lease on 30 June 2023 to make way for a housing development project. Well, if you don’t mind making the trip to the West, you should definitely check out ORTO West Coast, which is located directly opposite Haw Par Villa.

You may be wondering what there is to do and eat there. For starters, if you’re obsessed with Thai food, you must stop by Kinn Derm for delicious delicacies from the Land of Smiles.

Have a hearty feast with the Hotpot Ayuthaya Boat Noodle (S$36.80 for pork, S$38.80 for beef), or spice things up with the Amma’s Mama Tom Yum Soup (S$28.80). While eating, soak in the good vibes with good tunes coming from the various live band performances.

For those familiar with SGMY at ORTO Yishun, you’ll be familiar with their selection of zi char dishes, local classic dishes and an array of beers and spirits.

They have recently soft-launched their new concept called 88 SGMY Seafood on the premises of ORTO West Coast on 30 Mar 2023. Indulge in various seafood dishes such as BBQ La La (S$14.90) and Salted Egg Crab (Seasonal Price).

Customers can also catch their own prawns at the huge pond for (S$7 per 500g) and choose from 10 different cooking styles which includes cereal, sambal, kam hiong and butter.

If the heat is getting to you, head over to After Hours Gelato for some delightful sweet treats like the Signature Golden Butter Toast (S$9.50). To make it more luxurious, top up a Single (S$5) or Double (S$9) scoop of gelato to go with it.

You can also enjoy their selection of Specialty Soda (S$6) with options like Watermelon Calpis and Lychee Rose.

The other F&B options that are available include the renowned RedDot BrewHouse from Dempsey Hill, Mo’s Grill & Bar and an upcoming mermaid-themed bar and restaurant called The Mermaid with a live band and an in-house DJ.

You can also catch crustaceans with your mates at Prawning at ORTO West Coast or have a round of pool at West Coast Cue Sports.

With so much to eat and do, why not head down over the upcoming long weekend? I’m sure there’s something for everyone!
