As a cyclist, I’ve always had Wheeler’s Yard on my bucket list. Many plans to drop by this uniquely themed bicycle cafe with friends have been made but never followed through with. It seems I might never get to experience its mystique as the cafe has announced on its Facebook page that their last day of service is 30 Sep.
The cafe occupies an entire warehouse building situated along a small industrial street in Balestier. Its iconic blue doors are reason enough for Instagrammers to pay a visit. The spacious dining space is adorned with modern and retro bicycles, along with related paraphernalia really accentuating the ‘bicycle’ theme. Up until 2020, Wheeler’s Yard was also a bicycle retail shop.
Before the dreaded date arrives, head down to the cafe if you have the time to spare. Available from 8.30am to 11am, their Quick Fixes of Pulled Pork (S$16), Chicken Katsu (S$16), and Triple Cheese (S$15) sandwiches (with sidewinder fries) can be paired with a free hot coffee or tea on weekdays.

With every order of a Light Bite, diners are able to get a discounted S$10 (u.p. S$15) pint of draft beer. The Light Bite list ranges from Truffle Fries (S$16) with furikake and Chomp Chomp Chicken (S$14) tossed in spicy Korean sauce to Mushroom Soup (S$8) and Black Pepper Lime Squid (S$17).
For a proper lunch meal, Wheeler’s Yard has Fish & Chips (S$24), Chilli Crab Pasta (S$20), Miso Pork Belly Bowl (S$20) and the pinnacle of indulgence, Ultimate Beef Yard Burger (S$28) that comes with a 220g wagyu patty, pork bacon, sunny side-up egg, and fries. All set lunches can be topped off with S$5 for a salad bowl and drink choices of hot espresso, long black, latte, English breakfast tea, iced lemon tea or iced classic lemonade – valid from 11am to 2.30pm.
The owners also run Wheeler’s Estate at Seletar Aerospace Park, a 2-storey bungalow that houses a cafe & grill and a 150-seat restaurant.
