Few woes can’t be solved without a good, juicy affordable steak on a platter. It’s smoky, savoury, and honestly, one of my top-tier dishes to order whenever I’m feeling a little extra bougie.
Steaks don’t usually come cheap. I’m sure we’ve all walked into a restaurant, glanced at the price, mentally calculated the cost with service charge and GST, and thought, “Maybe I’ll just have the chicken instead.”
This changes today.
Here are 10 places to get an affordable steak below S$30 that won’t leave a hole in your wallet.
1. Uno Beef House

A crowd favourite amongst residents of Toa Payoh, UNO Beef House, hidden in Maxim Coffeeshop offers some sizzling steaks imported from New Zealand. Their Black Pepper Ribeye Steak ($18), is accompanied by their signature fried potato ball, tomato and baked beans. If you’re a carb lover through and through, the fries will cost an additional S$3.

For a small stall in a coffeeshop, the steak quality is impressive. It was the easiest to cut through and chew. Despite the sizzling pan’s best effort to evaporate all the moisture, this beaut managed to retain a pretty good amount of juice, giving every mouthful just the right amount of satisfaction.
Other steak choices to savour include the Black Pepper Sirloin Steak ($16) and Black Pepper Tenderloin steak ($21). To pair with your main dishes, you should try their Mushroom Soup (S$3) or Coleslaw (S$3.50/S$4.50).
2. The Feather Blade

The Feather Blade has amassed a loyal legion of supporters, and that’s 100% well deserved. With their main outlet at Tanjong Pagar, they opened a second outlet in East Coast in Nov 2023. Feather Blade’s bestseller is none other than the iconic 200g of The Feather Blade Steak with Herb Butter and Smoke Salt. Priced at S$25 at Tanjong Pagar and S$24 at East Coast, it’s the most no-frills, no-fuss steak one can expect.
You can order it to your preferred doneness, and be prepared to pop a tender piece of meat into your mouth. With its affordable price points, you’ll be able to treat yourself to a variety of other sides to complement your meal.

One of my favourites is the Fries (S$8), which is triple cooked in wagyu beef fat! Looking for something more elegant? Upgrade your fries to Truffle Fries for an additional S$4 or top it with Dill Sour Cream & Ikura (S$4). The Spinach (S$9) is another side to look out for, boasting a fragrant nutmeg and parmesan combination, topped with an onsen egg.

Apart from their fantastic steaks, FBG also offers a selection of housemade sauces and sides such as Torched Creamed Corn (S$12) or Mushroom Fricassee (S$14) to complement your meal, making it a memorable dining experience for you and your loved ones.

4. Meat 4 Meat

Helmed by Executive Chefs Jimmy Teo and Gerald Lau, Meat 4 Meat promises to deliver a dining experience that exceeds expectations, whether you’re a steak aficionado or just looking to indulge without breaking the bank. Providing classic Western fare, expect to sink your teeth into mouthwatering delights such as the grass-fed Argentinian Ribeye (S$27.50/240g) and Australian Tenderloin (S$28.50/180g), both of which come with your choice of fries or a baked potato on the side.
Also, while it’s not a traditional steak dish, we’d have to give their Beef Wellington (S$35) a shoutout – it’s not something you’d typically see in a coffee shop setting, but trust us, you won’t regret trying it!

Mention “wagyu” to any steak enthusiast, and their eyes will light up immediately. This being Japan’s most prized cut of meat, it’s become popular amongst Singaporeans, and you can now get an affordable fix of wagyu at Bizen Okayama, run by the same folks as Aston’s.

With a variety of steaks on their menu, you can get yourself a Round Steak (S$20.50 for 150g, S$28.90 for 220g). Served with two sides—take your pick from salads, fries, potato wedges, sauteed vegetables, and more. Whatever you pick, you’ll be sure to leave your tummy full and happy.
Bizen Okayama also has a unique Cuts of the Day offering subject to availability. With their exclusive partnership with cattle farmers in Bizen Okayama, they have access to lesser-known cuts of meat. Also including two side dishes, diners will need to enquire staff about more information as some cuts will not be available again after some time!

6. Braseiro

Braseiro is a Brazilian-French-influenced casual restaurant dubbed “The Best Steakhouse in Singapore” by some. This French steakhouse has two outlets and serves up authentic French steak frites, transporting you on a journey to France.
Here, diners can savour the mouth-watering Flame-grilled rib-eye ($29.90) for a 200g cut, cooked nicely to a medium-rare. Cooked over their fire-grilled barbeque, it’s tender and well-seasoned, as each bite renders a tasty burst of beefy juices.

And of course, if you ask, you shall receive. If your appetite calls and you are looking to go a bit above budget, diners can request an upgrade to the size of your steak: 300g – $37.90 / 400g – $44.90. What makes Braseiro even more lovable is their unlimited free-flow of homemade fries and salad to accompany your delicious flame-licked steak.
While not a steak, we need to give a shoutout to their unique Tartare de Boeuf (S$32.90), or beef tartare. Seasoned like in Paris, it is 100% fresh raw ribeye beef and is for those adventurous diners who are looking to try something uncommon not on your typical list of eats.
7. Steakville

Located at Sunshine Plaza, Steakville prides itself on dishes made with the freshest produce available. What sets apart Steakville is the cuts of beef are imported from the best farms around the world from New Zealand, Japan, Argentina and the USA to ensure top-quality meat cooked to perfection.
With a farm-to-table mission, look out for their cuts of Hanger Steak (S$26/200g) and Ribeye Steak (S$28/150g), prized for its immense depth of flavour. All steaks will come with house salad, beetroot puree, truffle mustard and sea salt.

While the steaks were tender, we found them to be slightly gamey for our liking. That’s when you can sprinkle some sea salt on the beef to neutralise the gaminess of the beef.
Another notable cut to look out for if you are looking for that unforgettable dining experience is their Japanese Wagyu (S$60/120g) which is an A5 grade piece of wagyu steak from Kagoshima, true luxury personified on a plate. Do note that prices may vary depending on the wagyu selection for the day.

9. Picanhas’

I’ve only tried Picanhas’ once, but I’m already awaiting the day I can do so again. At S$31, you can savour 250 grams of their Queen of Steak, a picanha steak cut. Or for S$24, you can look to try their Picanha Don with 100 grams of picanha steak, onsen egg, garlic bits, caramelised onions, pickled cabbage and vibrant blue pea rice.
The prices are hard to beat, and the quality even more so.

Thinly sliced, and oozing of a flame-grilled perfection, these steaks are what dreams are made of. They use a special Picanha rump cut, and every slab is finished with Binchotan Butter, giving it a full-bodied flavour with a tender bite.
To complement your steaks, you can pick from a range of sides all priced at S$7 including Mushrooms, Spinach, Truffle Beans or Potatoes. Additionally, for S$2 you can elevate your cuts with their homemade sauces from a choice of Sze Chuan, Chimichurri, Wasabi Cream or Bernaise, which will surely have you coming back for more!
