Growing up in Ampang, I have many great memories of Nong & Jimmy Thai Seafood BBQ and their delicious Thai food. So I was thrilled to learn that they’ve opened a new location in Imbi, even closer to my current home. It’s almost like a divine intervention!

This Thai restaurant is a beloved spot among Ampang folks. Over the past 30 years, they’ve evolved from a modest shop under the trees in 1994 to a stylish, single-storey restaurant with a stunning glass ceiling.

Despite the changes, they’ve kept their authentic Thai recipes for you to enjoy.

To start off your meal, awaken your taste buds with some fantastic Thai appetisers, like Mango Salad (RM18), Chicken Feet Salad (RM17), or Yomoisen Salad (RM21), amongst others.

Don’t miss their famous Charcoal Grilled Crab (from RM55), a signature dish since 1994. They grill the fresh crabs to perfection, giving them a smoky flavour that’s truly addictive. If charcoal-grilled seafood isn’t your thing, try their Black Pepper Crab, Salted Crab, or Thai Style Curry Crab instead.

A Thai restaurant wouldn’t be complete without Thailand’s iconic dish – Tom Yam (from RM18). Nong & Jimmy Thai Seafood BBQ’s Tom Yam features a bold, rich blend of fiery spices, zesty lemongrass, and kaffir lime leaves, combined with a hearty assortment of prawns, squid, mushrooms, and tomatoes.

What better way to complete your meal than with rice? Skip the plain white rice and try their Signature Thai Fried Rice (RM9.50), Pineapple Fried Rice (RM13), or Fried Pad Thai (RM24) for something heartier.

And of course, save room for dessert! End your meal on a high note with their Mango Sticky Rice (RM11.90), for the perfect sweet finish — the only happy ending I’d vouch for.

What are you waiting for? Head over to Nong & Jimmy Thai Seafood BBQ, conveniently located near TRX MRT Station, to get a true taste of Thailand.
