The beloved 146 Famous Bukit Merah Ang Ku Kueh is set to open an outlet at 721 Clementi West Street 2, just beside West Coast Community Centre, bringing their colourful world of handcrafted kueh to western Singapore.
Although this news has not yet been announced by the owners themselves, a netizen came across the signage at a stall at the new location and shared it on Facebook. It will replace another kueh stall that sadly shuttered due to increasing rental costs.
Established in 1985, the original stall in Bukit Merah started selling kueh with just peanut and mung bean fillings, but has since expanded to 11 vibrant flavours — including unique ones like Durian, Sweet Potato, Coffee, and Green Tea — each priced at S$1.50.
This famed ang ku kueh is praised for its glutinous, chewy yet delicate skin and generous fillings made without artificial flavour or preservatives.
The Green Tea, Sweet Potato, and Yam flavours in particular stood out and were praised by one of our writers for their natural sweetness and earthy notes. Especially the yam, which she boldly declared as “one of the best ang ku kueh” she’s ever had!
There hasn’t been information released about their new Clementi spot, but we hope to expect the full lineup of classic and quirky flavours alike. Aside from ang ku kueh, this stall also stocks other traditional treats including soon kueh, peng kueh, sweet potato balls and more — all affordably priced between S$2 and S$3.40.
