Quick Summary

Thai Seng Fish Soup in Ubi will be closed for Chinese New Year from 8 to 23 Feb 2026, affecting diners planning meals around the festive period. The article details the hawker’s annual CNY shutdown, past closure patterns, long queues, and key dishes with prices, while clarifying it is not linked to similarly named stalls elsewhere. It is best suited for readers timing visits before the closure or avoiding disruption during the holiday window.

Have you planned out your family’s Chinese New Year (CNY) reunion dinner plans yet? If you’re hoping to pop by Thai Seng Fish Soup in Ubi, you might want to reconsider. The famous Thai tom yum fish soup hawker has just announced their annual CNY temporary closure dates, and you’re likely out of luck.

The announcement came via a Facebook post on the hawker’s official page, which stated that their Chinese New Year closure dates would be from 8 Feb to 23 Feb 2026. In case you don’t know yet, the CNY holiday goes from 17 Feb to 18 Feb 2026.

This isn’t the first time Thai Seng Fish Soup has closed for an extended CNY break. Back in 2025, they closed for 16 days from 26 Jan to 10 Feb 2025.

Thai Seng Fish Soup is rather famous in the area for its long queues. In fact, we found ourselves caught in an hour-long queue when we visited the stall. Don’t confuse them with the Tai Seng Fish Soup you can find in Clementi and Jurong. In fact, the stall owners renamed the stall to prevent this specific mix-up.

Thai Seng Fish Soup CNY closure - sliced fish ee mian

We really loved their Sliced Fish Soup (S$5.50/6.50/7.50) paired with ee mian. It combined the comforting ee mian with fresh slices of batang fish prepared in the wee hours of the morning every day by the stall owners.

Thai Seng Fish Soup CNY closure - tom yam seafood soup

Don’t forget their Tom Yum Seafood Soup (S$7/8/9) either. It’s deceptively spicy, with the initial tanginess of a sip tricking you and masking the spiciness, ready to set your mouth aflame. It’s best paired with a bowl of white rice to counter the flavourful explosions that will go off in your mouth. It’s likely unintentional, but I love how a hawker with ‘Thai’ in their name serves one of the best tom yum soups.

You have until 8 Feb 2026 before Thai Seng Fish Soup’s CNY closure, so don’t dilly-dally!
