To fellow KL wanderers who regularly brave the chaos of Jalan Tun H S Lee — the honking, the sudden one-way turns, the motorcycles that appear out of nowhere — this one might sting a little. Light Capture Cafe by H.O.N. is officially closing its doors for good on 31 Jan.

The announcement that circulated on 30 Jan felt abrupt to many, almost like a last-minute plot twist. But Light Capture Cafe had posted a farewell Instagram reel back on 26 Dec 2025, thanking customers for the memories and the support.
Which means, unfortunately, some of us only realised what was happening when it was already too late (including yours truly).

For many, Light Capture Cafe wasn’t just another spot to grab coffee. Housed in a heritage building along one of the city’s oldest streets, the cafe stood out immediately.

Step inside and you were greeted by soaring ceilings, textured concrete walls, and soft natural light. Not quite brutalist, not exactly minimalist — but striking in a way that made you pause before even opening the menu. (Architecture bros, please be kind.)
That visual appeal drew people in, but what kept them coming back was the experience as a whole. The ambience made it a comfortable escape from the street outside, while the food and drinks did more than just fill the gap.

On a personal note, the Cheesy Wheezy Chicken Chop was memorable, and the Salted Egg Croissant deserves its own round of applause. To me, it genuinely ranks among the better croissants out there — flaky, rich, and indulgent without being over the top.
As with many cafe closures in KL, no specific reason has been publicly shared. Rising operational costs, shifting foot traffic, and the challenges of running a heritage space are all familiar hurdles, but those remain speculative.
What is confirmed is that Light Capture Cafe will continue operating at its Pavilion Kuala Lumpur location , despite closing down the heritage outlet.
If you’ve been meaning to revisit, reminisce, or finally see what the fuss was about, this is your last call. Drop by before the lights go out!
