Looking for the newest food spot? Tada, you just found it! This one is more special, though; it’s not a new coffee shop, food court, or restaurant, but a vending machine!
The new food vending machine, AmiCARE, was launched at Blk 326A Sumang Walk, Punggol North, on 9 May. They offer freshly cooked vegetarian and halal meals priced at S$3 and below, making it convenient for nearby residents to find affordable meals.

The AmiCARE vending machine offers 8 halal meals on its menu, including a vegetarian option. To ensure residents don’t get sick of the food offerings, the operator will also adjust the menu weekly based on feedback from the residents.
Besides variety, food safety is also crucial. To fulfil the safety criteria set by the Singapore Food Authority (SFA), the temperature within each vending machine slot is set at 60 degrees Celsius. Additionally, UV light is used to kill bacteria in the food.

On top of meeting the minimum safety requirements, the food will also be freshly cooked by a halal-certified central kitchen on the day itself, with leftover food boxes being cleared and replaced with new ones. The meal consists of a staple, vegetables and protein, offering balanced nutrition as well!
To use the AmiCARE vending machine, first launch the AmiApp and scan the QR code displayed on the machine. Once your selection is confirmed, make payment via PayNow, PayLah, credit card or AmiPay. After payment, collect your freshly-cooked meal from the machine.
If you don’t stay in Punggol North, you may have to wait a little longer. Chang Cheng Holdings, the company behind AmiCARE’s vending machine, announced plans to introduce more machines in Tampines and other parts of Punggol in mid-May. They will likely bring their machines to other neighbourhoods too!
