Punggol is truly shaping up to be the new hot district in Singapore. With the development of Punggol Coast Mall and the accompanying Punggol Coast Hawker Centre, as well as the Digital District, it looks set to be a great weekend destination for those in the North… like me! It’s also integrated with the SIT campus, providing students and faculty with loads of dining options.

While the mall is open to the public, we saw some areas cordoned off and couldn’t access them. Some towers are still undergoing final touch-ups – we spotted several workers painting some walls in cordoned-off areas. The main plaza reminds me a lot of Star Vista, with plenty of spots for patrons to sit and pass the time.

SIT campus links outdoor area

What pleasantly surprised us along with the mall’s size was the amount of greenery and outdoor spaces for relaxation. It seemed very soothing, but unfortunately, it was pouring rain when we visited Punggol Coast Mall, so we were unable to venture outside to fully explore.

The mall is also fully integrated with the bus interchange and Punggol Coast MRT, with multiple entrances in and out of it.

connecting escalator

There is also a connecting escalator that takes you directly to the upcoming hawker centre. Talk about connectivity!

So far, Punggol Coast Mall looks to be shaping up nicely. I’ll definitely be back to check out the mall once again when it’s fully open.
