What’s the cheapest you’ve paid for chicken rice? Me, I had $1 chicken rice in my primary school 10 years ago. Besides that, I’ve rarely heard of chicken rice below S$2, especially in recent years. That’s why I was shocked to learn about The Hainan Story’s S$1.80++ Hainanese Chicken Rice offer.

The promotion, which is only available at The Hainan Story’s Hotel Boss outlet, is a huge price slash from their usual price of S$6.10. That adds up to a 70% discount and S$4.30 in savings!

This limited deal is available on weekdays from 25 May to 12 Jun 2026 from 11am, and is not valid on public holidays or weekends.

While the promotion is offered for both dine-in and takeaway, takeaway orders are subject to packaging fees.

To enhance your dining experience, consider adding a sweet treat to your main. The Hainan Story is known for its Swiss rolls, especially the Hainanese Pandan Coconut Kaya Roll (S$3.70 per slice). If you’re not into pandan, they offer other flavours like Nanyang Yam Orh Nee and Ondeh Ondeh for the same price.

Before rushing out for your S$1.80 chicken rice, take note of a few things. This deal cannot be used with other deals or vouchers. You can’t choose your chicken parts, and the price is also subject to GST and service charge.

Nevertheless, there’s no doubt that S$1.80 chicken rice is a huge savings deal. If you’re looking for a taste of traditional food while saving up, remember to drop by early! You wouldn’t want to travel there only to realise that your beloved S$1.80 chicken rice is sold out.

If the chicken rice is sold out, you can try other mains such as the Hainanese Fried Glass Noodle (S$7.90) and Hainanese Chicken Fried Rice with Curry Beef (S$10.90) at regular prices.

Of course, most of us would still go for the S$1.80 deal, so I wish you good luck!

I can't cook, but I can eat and tell you if the food is good. I love almost everything that goes with coriander, spring onions or vinegar, but absolutely hate ginger and garlic.
