Penang’s beloved Toh Soon Cafe is taking its old-school breakfast favourites down south, with its first-ever outlet in Selangor opening in Subang Jaya.

For more than 70 years, the cafe has been serving simple Malaysian breakfast staples from its famously tucked-away spot along Lebuh Campbell, George Town. Its charm has always been in the basics: charcoal-grilled bread, soft-boiled eggs, fragrant Hainanese coffee, and a no-frills atmosphere that is distinctly Penang.
Now, Subang folks can get a taste without making the trip across the bridge.

The menu stays true to the cafe’s roots, with Hainanese Bread available either toasted over charcoal or steamed. You can pair it with spreads including homemade kaya, salted butter, homemade peanut butter, or condensed milk, with the option to add a slice of cold butter for extra richness.
There are also Polo Buns, Roti Kiap, Eggs on Toast, Half-boiled Eggs, Nasi Lemak, and Roti Kok, alongside Curry Puffs for a quick bite.

Of course, no Toh Soon breakfast is complete without a drink. Expect classic kopitiam favourites such as Kopi, Kopi O, Kopi Si, Teh, Teh O and Teh Si, alongside nostalgic combinations like Yuan Yong, Neslo and Hor Ka Sai. Those after something refreshing can also opt for drinks such as lime, red nutmeg and lemon tea.
The Subang outlet will be located in Bandar Sunway beside The Thyme. An official opening date has yet to be announced.

For anyone who grew up with kopitiam breakfasts, this one should be in your radar. And for those who know Toh Soon Cafe from its Penang days, it might just be a convenient excuse to revisit an old favourite closer to home in Subang.
