If you have been to Seoul, there is a good chance Gosame has crossed your radar. The popular Korean eatery, known for its charcoal-grilled fish and homestyle dishes, is finally opening its first Malaysian outlet in KL this October.

Gosame started out in Seoul’s Sinchon and Hongdae neighbourhoods, and has since become a familiar name among Malaysian travellers looking for a proper Korean meal outside the usual BBQ and fried chicken spots.

As its name suggests, grilled fish is a big part of the menu. Its charcoal-grilled mackerel is one of the main draws, served with a smoky, lightly charred exterior while keeping the fish tender inside. It is an unfussy Korean comfort food that works especially well with a bowl of rice and a few banchan on the side.

Also making its way to KL is Ojing-eo Bokkeum, or spicy stir-fried squid. The squid is tossed over high heat with a spicy seasoning, giving it that smoky, wok-hei-like flavour alongside a good kick of heat. If you prefer something with a little more punch than grilled fish, this is one to look out for.

Another point worth knowing: Gosame is recognised as a pork-free establishment under the Seoul Tourism Association’s Salam Seoul programme, meaning no pork ingredients are used. The same pork-free approach will apply at its Malaysian outlet too.
Gosame will open at The Stories of Taman Tunku, KL on 12 Oct 2026, bringing a familiar Seoul favourite a little closer to home. So, if you have been missing that charcoal-grilled mackerel you had on your last Korea trip, you will soon have somewhere in KL to get your fix without the flight.
