Quick Summary

ATECOOKIES.SG at Golden Mile Food Centre along Beach Road serves handcrafted New York-style chunky cookies created from scratch by a self-taught baker. Priced from S$5.50 to S$7 each, signature creations include Walnut Choco, Matcha Macadamia, and dark chocolate lava options featuring crisp exteriors and chewy centres. It is ideal for dessert enthusiasts and gift buyers seeking artisanal bakes accessible via Nicoll Highway MRT station or online delivery.

If you’re anything like me, videos of huge, chunky New York-style cookies have been dominating your feed for the past couple of months. I finally made it down to Golden Mile Food Centre along Beach Road to try out a homegrown version of the viral cookie at ATECOOKIES.SG.

The bright white sign hanging above the stall instantly stands out against the sea of heritage hawkers. The stall is helmed by young self-taught baker Donovan, who uses his own cookie recipes crafted entirely from scratch. Donovan sets time aside daily to R&D new recipes or to improve existing ones.

Aside from the mouthwatering options available right now, he shared that they are currently developing new flavours, such as a pistachio lava cookie planned for launch in the coming months. You should definitely keep an eye out for future releases!

What to order at ATECOOKIES.SG

I settled on 2 signature cookies and 1 premium cookie. What immediately stood out to me was how craggy the tops of the cookies were, indicating that I would be in for a crispy treat.

I started off strong with a bite of the Walnut Choco (S$5.50). The cookie was liberally studded throughout with a mix of chocolate chips and walnut bits, which add a great crunch. I was pleased to find it wasn’t overly sweet or jelak, even after I was 3/4 of the way through the decadent cookie.

All cookies I tried from this stall are deliciously crunchy on the outside while maintaining a wonderfully chewy brownie-like texture inside, making hem that much more addictive.

Next, I moved on to have a bite of the Matcha Macadamia (S$5.50). This turned out to be my absolute favourite out of the 3 cookies because of its perfectly balanced flavour.

I felt the flavours of both the matcha and macadamia came through nicely, which I didn’t initially expect. Neither component overpowers the other and instead pairs fantastically. The addition of premium white chocolate adds a delicious layer of richness to every bite.

Last but definitely not least, I sampled the Chocolate Lava (S$7). Don’t let its humble appearance fool you — this cookie was insanely generous with the chocolate lava filling which remained perfectly ooey-gooey even after bringing it home to enjoy.

They use 55% dark chocolate, which is incredibly smooth and tastes lightly sweet as it coats your tongue. The ratio of the viscous chocolate filling to cookie was perfect, so you can get a little of that creamy filling with every bite.

For sure! I’d recommend buying extra to store at home as they last up to 3 days at room temperature and 7 days in the fridge, as shared by the owner.
