Unfortunate news for the residents and regular patrons of Telok Blangah Rise Market & Food Centre — it will close for a 2-month Repair and Renovation (R&R) from 1 Nov to 31 Dec 2026. R&R is periodic maintenance work that is usually carried out every 5 to 7 years, depending on the condition of the hawker centre. It can consist of repainting and redecoration, as well as replacement of plumbing, electrical and sanitary systems. Gas pipes, floor and wall tiles, and roofing may also be replaced.

Established in 1975, Telok Blangah Rise Market & Food Centre sits slightly below road level, surrounded by lush greenery. It is located near the Southern Ridges and Mount Faber, making it a hotspot for hikers. The hawker centre is smaller and more laid-back than others. This offers a peaceful, serene atmosphere for those who prefer to enjoy their meals away from the crowds.
Some notable stalls include Hai Yan Fried Kway Teow and Vegetarian Delight. The former serves kway teow with excellent wokhei along with a unique addition —- a runny egg. Additionally, their kway teow does not come with cockles. This could be a plus or a minus depending on who you’re asking (a plus for me).

R&R works keep our hawker centres in good physical condition and ensure a pleasant dining experience for all patrons. They also help to improve business and footfall. The R&R works are all in the public’s interest to protect our health and safety so let’s wait patiently for Telok Blangah Rise Market & Food Centre to reopen! In the meantime, you can visit other hawker centres nearby such as Telok Blangah Crescent Market & Food Centre.
