New in town: Arab Street Turkish Restaurant — Authentic and wallet-friendly Arab food at Yishun

Yishunites, I have good news for you (finally). You no longer have to travel all the way to Bugis for your authentic Middle-Eastern food fix with the opening of Arab Street Turkish Restaurant on 30 Oct 2022.

Located at 661 Yishun Avenue 4 just opposite of SAFRA, Arab Street Turkish Restaurant is helmed by a Turkish-Egyptian Muslim and serves both Arabic and Turkish cuisines. So far, there haven’t been any reports of over-enthusiastic staff outside Arab Street Turkish Restaurant trying to get you to eat there. That’s always a plus!

Predictably, its menu focuses on Middle-Eastern dishes, with your usual suspect such as Hummus, which comes with either Chicken (S$8.90) or Lamb (S$9.90) served with pita bread. The same goes for the Falefel (S$5.90) and the many kebab option like the Adana Beef Kebab (S$10.90), Shish Lamb Kebab (S$11.90), Koufta Kebab (S$12.90) and Adana Chicken Kebab (S$9.90).

However, it also has uncommon dishes such as the Turkish tagine, which is a spicy stew slow-cooked in a tagine. Some of its options include the Tagine Musakka Cheese (S$8.90/S$9.90/S$10.90), Tagine Bamiya (S$8.90/S$9.90/S$10.90), Tagine Musakka Vegetarian (S$7.90), Tagine Bamiya Vegetarian (S$7.90) and Tagine Kofte (S$10.90).

If you’re planning to come with company, Arab Street Turkish Restaurant has family offers such as the Seafood Platter (S$28/S$51.90) and Mixed Grilled Kebab (S$32.20/S$50).

It also has Dulang (wide tray) rice options such as Chicken (S$28), Lamb (S$32) and Mixed Chicken/Lamb (S$34) which serves 4 to 6 pax. Every family offer also comes with a jug of Ice Lemon Mint drink.

Popular Middle-Eastern desserts such as Kunafa with Mango (S$10), Kunafa with Nutella (S$10), Kunafa Nabulsi with Cheese (S$10) and Baklava Pistachio (S$6 for 6 pieces) are also available as sweet treats to end the meal.
