I’ve grown pretty fond of making art lately, though it initially sounded pretty intimidating. The barriers to starting seem so high. There’s the mind-boggling variety of art supplies and mediums available, and after you’ve reconciled forking out sixty dollars on materials, there’s the crushing pressure of realising your talentless hands will never create the masterpiece you initially envisioned.
Not with that attitude, you won’t! Art should be for enjoyment and expression. There’s no reason why it should cause such stress, which is why these 10 Artify Studio services are perfect for first-timers.

Artify Studio was founded in 2014 and started out with art classes for children. They soon expanded to cater to adults and corporate workshops. With their approachable instructors and resources, they aim to make art an accessible endeavor to anyone with an open mind. Here, you don’t have to worry about lacking experience or supplies to join in. So all you need to focus on is the art of creation. Let me show you.
Workshops for adults
1. Hydrangea Knife Painting Workshop (3 hours)

Join this relaxing and fun 3-hour Hydrangea Knife Painting Workshop (S$60) to learn the techniques of painting with acrylic paint, impasto paste, and palette knives. Here, you’ll learn about impasto, a painting technique that involves applying thick layers of paint to create texture. Usually, these layers are so thick that the brush or knife-strokes are rendered visible.
You’ll learn about the different types of impasto paste, how to mix it with acrylic paint, as well as how to use a palette knife to manipulate colours. You will also be introduced to the different types of palette knives available for painting.
If you’ve never tried knife painting but are burning to find out what it’s like, book a slot for this 3-hour session to learn the basics.
2. Watercolour Experience (2.5 hours)
If thicc acrylic is not really your thing, have a refreshing time with watercolours instead. Join Artify Studio’s Watercolour Experience (S$35) for a relaxing session over water-based paints.

In this laid-back session, explore what it’s like to use watercolours to create your masterpiece, with the studio instructors’ soft guidance and insights along the way. You will get to try out various techniques such as wet-on-wet blending, dry brush blending, flat wash, and blotting. You’ll also go through some colour theory to understand gradients and colour layering as you paint.
Paints, brushes, and a watercolour pad will be provided for you. They’ll also show you basic brush usage with sable and synthetic brushes, as well as flat and round brush heads.
3. Mummy & Me – Loose Florals Wreaths Class (2 hours)
If you’re looking for a way to expend your creative energy with your young ‘un, perhaps the Mummy & Me – Loose Florals Wreaths Class (S$100 per pair) will appeal to you.

Learn basic watercolour techniques with your child, as the instructor guides you through the steps of painting natural-looking florals and leaves.
Of course, it’s not a bonding session for nothing. Create a floral wreath painting with your child that you can look back on as your joint masterpiece. This is a great chance to be creative with your child while spending some quality time together. The best part is that you’ll have a tangible creation to remember your shared experience.
4. Acrylic Painting Workshop (4 Weeks)
For a more intensive challenge, sign up for Artify Studio’s Acrylic Painting Workshop (S$280). Over four weekly sessions, dedicate 2.5 hours to hone your skills such as brush usage, blending, layering colour, strength control, sponge use, and glazing.

At the end of this four-week course, feel accomplished as you take home four paintings all done by yourself.
Don’t stop there—double the fun with someone else. Bring a friend along so that you can enjoy the process of learning and creating together.
Childrens’ Art Classes
5. Alpha (4 to 6 years old)
Start them young with Artify Studio’s Kids’ Alpha Class, available for children between the ages of 4 and 6. The childrens’ classes are held on Fridays and weekends only, providing a regular schedule to facilitate your child’s learning.

The Alpha Classes are available in 4 sessions (S$160) or 12 sessions (S$432). Artify Studio prioritises incidental learning, encouraging children to embrace their mistakes as opportunities for creativity. With a teacher-student ratio of 1:4, they make an effort to ensure all students receive enough attention and guidance.
In the Alpha Class, children will learn basic art techniques as well as cultivate an open attitude towards making mistakes. This is an important foundation on which they can build their creativity.
6. Avant Garde (7 to 9 years old)
Following that, the Avant Garde classes are dedicated to 7- to 9-year-olds. These classes are available in 4 sessions (S$180) and 12 sessions (S$486) packages.

In these classes, the focus progresses to independent exploration to guide students into finding their unique styles. Students will be exposed to practical skills such as sandpaper use and container building.
In the process, they will sharpen their observation skills, curiosity, and creativity. In the long term, these transferable skills promise to benefit your child in areas beyond art.
7. Artistry (10 to 12 years old)
For older children between the ages of 10 and 12, the Artistry classes will be suitable. These more advanced classes help children to inject their personal style across simple and equally difficult art projects. There is more opportunity for ownership here as children are allowed to create art pieces from scratch.

The Artistry classes are priced similarly to that of the Avant Garde classes: 4 sessions at S$180 and 12 sessions at S$486.
Watch as your child progresses in their artistic journey and acquires valuable soft skills at Artify Studio. You’ll see them grow into more vibrant and confident versions of themselves.
Art Jamming
8. Liberty Art Jam (2.5 hours)
One of Artify Studio’s most signature services, Liberty Art Jam (S$35 for 2.5 hours) is a place for adults to create art with guidance.

As always, you’re in good hands at Artify Studio, as they provide all the materials and reference images you’ll need to get started. They will also provide tips to facilitate your creativity, so don’t worry about a lack of inspiration.
If you need more time to work on your piece, you can also top up S$10 for an additional hour.
At the end of your art jamming session, they’ll give you a plastic carrier to protect your artwork on your way home.
9. Unguided Art Jam
If you’re feeling more independent, you can opt for the Unguided Art Jam (S$25 for 2.5 hours) instead. This option affords more scheduling flexibility, as you can choose any 2.5-hour time slot between 10am and 3pm on Tuesdays to Thursdays.

However, don’t expect any guidance on your artwork in this session. The Unguided Art Jam means what it says, and it’s a perfect opportunity to build artistic confidence.
Of course, materials are still provided, and you are welcome to top up S$10 for an additional hour if you need more time.
Corporate Team Building
10. Bond & Build
Artify Studio also offers a Bond & Build (S$50 per pax) option for corporate team building. This price includes rent and studio operational costs, art materials, and instructor guidance. Through art-making, get to know your colleagues outside the workplace as you flex your creative muscles together.

In this 2.5-hour session, you’ll learn basic observational drawing and painting using acrylic paints. With basic techniques under your belt, leave with your very own masterpiece and hopefully, a newfound artistic motivation.
Also, 20% of your S$50 fee will go toward Artify Studio’s Artribe efforts, which is a community initiative that organises art sessions for senior citizens. Contribute to something meaningful while enjoying art with colleagues in the process!
Writing this list has me itching to go to an art class myself. The feeling of creating something with your own hands is incomparable to any other. Artify Studio’s services promise to be the balm to a frazzled mind. If I could impose some mandatory self-care time on everybody, I’d ask you to give Artify Studio a try.
Look out for some of their special festive classes too. You can book your classes via Artify Studio’s website, email or contact them at +65 9011 1431.
