For those working along New Industrial Road or living nearby, there’s a new place to check out for lunch. Bao Kitchen officially opened for business on 20 Feb 2023, and is located at Hudson Industrial Building.

Bao Kitchen specialises in braised pork trotters and pork belly. The cooking process painstakingly involves several hours of braising in a pot that’s jam-packed with more than 10 different herbs and spices.

This allows the braising sauce to slowly thicken, resulting in a robust and full-bodied gravy. Sounds delicious already!

Back in the 1950s, the owner’s grandfather had worked as a street hawker to earn a living and provide for his children. As the years passed, a single hawker stall had slowly expanded into a family business with several restaurants under its belt.

Even though his grandfather had aged and retired, his passion and relationship with food did not grow distant. In fact, it got even stronger despite the fact that he has worked in a few other industries before.

The menu consists mainly of Pig Trotter Rice (S$5) or you can change things up with the Pig Trotter Beehoon (S$5) instead. You’ll also find Pork Belly Rice (S$5) and Mixed Platter Rice (S$6) (for those who prefer both).

You can also choose to indulge in a Whole Pig Trotter from S$15 to S$20 all by yourself or share it with a friend. If you’re neither a fan of pork trotters or pork belly, you can pair a variety of side dishes like luncheon meat and fried fishball (S$0.70 – S$1) with the Beehoon (S$2.80) instead.
