Baozza in Shanghai, China serves perhaps the wackiest fusion food there is. Think a pizza and a bao all rolled into one.
Think a soft pillowy bun encasing hearty marinara sauce with oozy gooey cheese. From the looks of it, the bun is slightly denser and doughier than a regular steamed bao.
I mean just look at that cheesy goodness, this is one for the cheat days.
Apparently, Baozza is not new to the alternative pizza scene (yes, there is such a thing). Baozza has been around since 2016 and originated in Beijing. The team has been slowly tweaking their recipe to get just the right bao texture. Now with their first brick-and-mortar in Shanghai at Pacific Fresh City Mall you can get all the baozzas you desire.
These baozzas also come in pizza flavours, such as Margherita, Meat Lover, BBQ Chicken, and Hawaiian Jalapeno.
These unconventional creations are going at CNY20 for two. Not only that, you can get these Baozzas three different ways, in Steamed Traditional Style, Toasted or the best option smothered in melted cheese for an extra CNY3.
I know for the purists out there, this might be an unholy union of two vastly different food items. But hey, never say never right?
