The owner’s child made the announcement about Bedok 539 Kway Chap’s closing through a Facebook post on 22 May, attributing their closing to “high rental and food cost”. The auntie who owns the stall will be retiring for good after the closure.

Bedok 539 Kway Chap has been around for 26 years, operating at this same stall in NAM WAH COFFEE SHOP through the decades.

They are aptly known for their Speciality Kway Chap, which you can get from just S$4.50 a set. Add on Pig Intestines for S$1 more, or a steaming, flavourful bowl of Yam Rice for S$0.50.

Many patrons have praised their generous portions of kway chap served at affordable prices, carrying a lightly herbal broth that keeps customers coming back for more. The ingredients served, like the braised meats and intestines, are also said to be clean and tasty.

Food aside, this stall is also known for its impeccable service. Based on their Google reviews, many mentioned that the old couple running the stall (the auntie in particular) are friendly and courteous, always insisting on bringing customers’ dishes to their tables.

Bedok 539 Kway Chap was also one of the pioneering establishments for islandwide delivery during the Circuit Breaker period in 2020, doing their best to bring warm and soupy kway chap comfort during desolate quarantine days.

With a heavy heart, this stall says their goodbyes and extends thanks to loyal patrons, drivers, suppliers and every customer who has supported them over the years.
