This news was shared in the Facebook group, Hawkers United — Dabao 2020 by user Will Toh, who posted an image of a banner announcing the upcoming closure of the market hung outside its premises.

The banner also added that diners could head over to Tiong Bahru Market and Blk 22A and 22B Havelock Road if they are in search of alternative markets and hawker centres to visit during the closure period.

Beo Crescent Market, located in Havelock, is a popular spot for affordable yet delicious hawker food. There, diners can look forward to enjoying bowls of claypot rice, lor mee, fish soup, ban mian, prawn noodles, duck rice and more at wallet-friendly prices.

Before the 3-month closure, be sure to head down to the market to enjoy a last taste of the food from your favourite stalls. Nan Yuan Fishball Noodles is a popular pick and often attracts long queues during lunch hour. Heng Heng Cooked Food (Carrot Cake) is another well-known stall for a delicious plate of wok hei chai tow kway.

Chef Wang Fried Rice is also a contender, most known for being founded by an ex-Shangri-La and Din Tai Fung chef.

For those residing in the East, take note that the popular Old Airport Road Food Centre will also be closing temporarily— like Beo Crescent Market, Old Airport Road Food Centre will shutter from 1 Jun to 30 Sep 2024 for renovation works.

Finally, do be aware of hawker centres that will be closed for spring cleaning on certain days— thankfully, these hawker centres are usually only closed for a day or so. We can’t wait to see the new Beo Crescent Market in August!
