The selection of food for our Cosmopolitan Menu C (S$27+ per pax, min. 10 pax) was nothing short of spectacular. The Fragrant Garlic Chicken with Garlic Crisps was crispy, savoury, and perfumed with thin slivers of aromatic garlic.

The Crispy Panko Fish with Parmesan Garlic Dust & Truffle Aioli was moist and coated with delicate breadcrumbs. The parmesan dust was rich and savoury while the earthy truffle aioli tied everything together.
We also enjoyed the Mixed Chicken Sausage with Smokey BBQ Sauce, Fusilli Pasta Asparagus with Mushroom, and concluded with a refreshing Aloe Vera Passion Aiyu. Click here to order.

The Western Epicurean (S$398+, min. 8 pax) is a 6-course European-centric set with starters, mains, and dessert. Each dish on the menu can be replated to mimic a restaurant-style presentation. The Chicken Roulade is scrumptious and juicy, paired with a savoury and tart pomegranate gravy and dusted with pink peppercorns for a floral hit of spice.

Fluffy and buttery with a savoury layer of cheese on top, the Potato Au Gratin is creamy and luscious. I couldn’t stop popping the Sea Salt Dark Chocolate Tart into my mouth. It was robust and bitter-sweet with a gentle savoury hint to help cut down the richness.

Savour the bitter-sweet flavours and aroma of the Penang Coffee Glazed Chicken — perfect for caffeine aficionados like me. Each morsel is deep fried until crisp, then coated in a luscious coffee glaze and finished with crunchy almond slices for a nutty contrast.

No trip to Penang is complete without a plate of Penang Char Kway Teow, and thankfully, it’s on the menu too. I enjoyed the delicious stir-fried kway teow with luscious egg, crunchy tau geh, fishcake pieces, and chives that left me going back for more.
The Penang Assam Sambal Fish gave my palate a zingy punch. Tender chunks of fish and okra are smothered in an appetising, spicy tamarind sambal with onions and lime. I love how robust and hearty the Signature Curry Chicken is. The tender chicken is paired with pillowy potatoes that soak up the rich curry. I’m a fan of the classic Sze Chuan Mapo Tofu with Pork. This aromatic dish features silky cubes of beancurd with scrumptious pork. It’s unapologetically fiery and bathed in numbing Sichuan peppercorns.
The Wok-Fried Prawn with Butter Cereal is dangerously addictive. I love how the crunchy cereal perfumes my tongue with fragrant curry leaves and chilli padi, taking the fresh and sweet prawns up a notch.

5. Stamford Catering

Hosting an intimate gathering of 10 but dread the inconvenience of reheating the food dish by dish in the microwave? Stamford Catering saves you the trouble with its self-heating mini buffets that keeps food warm for your guests’ enjoyment.

Digging into the Nonya Mee Siam with Egg conjured memories of my Peranakan grandmother’s home-cooked goodness. Tangy and delicious with a light infusion of spices, the mee siam consisted of bee hoon paired with tau pok cubes, sliced egg, and a wedge of calamansi for a kick of citrus.
Infused with rich, robust spices, the ultra tender Signature Rendang Beef offers a perfectly balanced, subtle warmth that lingers beautifully. Trust me when I say that this dish is perfect with rice. The Fish Fillet with Assam Paste lifted my appetite with its earthy and zingy assam glaze that coated each piece of flaky fish.

Add some pizzazz to your cosy get-togethers with the 10-pax Mini Catering Sets (from S$25+ per pax) from Swee Choon Catering, featuring handcrafted dim sum prepared using heritage recipes. Think juicy siew mai, and pillowy char siew bao — and you’d be right. But those are just the tip of the iceberg, with plenty more to feast on.

I’ve eaten fried carrot cake many times, but Wok-Fried Cheong Fun? Now, that’s a first! I enjoyed the silky sheets of rice rolls that were stir-fried with egg, tau geh, chives, and a lightly-spiced XO sauce that was so addictive.
The Sweet Potato Salted Egg Custard Balls (+S$1.50 per pax) are a worthy addition to your feast. They were chewy and deliciously messy. You can also enjoy Swee Choon’s signature Mee Suah Kueh, Sliced Duck in Crispy Spring Onion Pastry, and the umami-filled Deep-Fried Shrimp Paste Chicken Wings. The set even comes with refreshing desserts such as Mango with Pomelo & Sago or Peachgum Jelly.

The Angus Beef Cheek in Aromatic Rendang Sauce was the perfect definition of melt-in-your-mouth. Each piece was bathed in fragrant, aromatic spices and rich rendang gravy that left me wanting more.
The Otah Queen Scallop was perfect for otah aficionados like myself. It had a whole piece of scallop embedded in the soft and robust seafood paste. Rich and decadent, the Egg White Crab Meat Fried Rice with XO Sauce had punchy umami flavours that made me go back for seconds.

We enjoyed the savoury “3-Cup” Chicken, a Taiwanese dish with tender meat, crunchy peanuts and fragrant hints of basil. The “Mapo” Tofu may look intimidating at first glance with its red chilli oil, but it was mild yet flavourful with bits of numbing Sichuan peppercorn.

I liked how authentic the Nonya Chap Chye tasted, while the Dry Laksa was addictive with robust spices and loaded with succulent prawns. We ended our meal with a refreshing ice-cold Mango Pomelo Sago dessert that was teeming with sweet mango cubes and pops of pomelo sacs.

9. Aunty Lily Kitchen

Aunty Lily Kitchen is run by, you guessed it, 65-year-old Aunty Lily, who started as a humble home-based business serving up Indonesian-Peranakan dishes. She is now a proud owner of a small eatery in Katong and provides catering services, too!

The Tumpeng Set (from S$280, serves 10 to 15 pax) is a traditional Indonesian cone-shaped rice tumpeng, surrounded by a medley of meat, seafood, and vegetable side dishes. You can start your feast with fragrant Nasi Kerabu (blue pea rice) or Turmeric Rice.
I found 2 of my favourite dishes — Beef Rendang and Ayam Buah Keluak — that my Nyonya grandmother used to cook and which I grew up loving. Each dish is bathed in distinct aromatic spices that give it a unique character.
Even the Black Ink Squid, tender sotong enveloped in an umami-rich squid ink sauce, was something my grandma cooked on special occasions, and I’m glad it’s offered here. If you’re feeling peckish, there are sides like Potato Perkedel and Corn Perkedel.

Dishes like the Indonesian Gado Gado with Peanut Sauce remind me of the delicious fare I had on my last Bali trip. For carbs, you can find options like Japanese Garlic Fried Rice, Chicken & Mushroom Baked Rice, or Stir Fried Dry Hokkien Mee.
Feast on complex and fragrant Asian crowd favourites, including Thai Green Curry Chicken, Assam Fish and Sayur Lodeh. I can see myself binging on sides like the Flower Cheese Beancurd or Fried Prawn Wanton w/ Mayo.
And yes, I have a soft spot for dessert, so the Mini Chocolate Eclair and Cocktail Almond Jelly would definitely make their way onto my plate.
