If you are a cafe hopper like me, you should be familiar with Brother Bird‘s soft-serve desserts. They feature unique flavours of house-made soft serves with mochi bursts, doughnuts and croissants.
But did you know that Brother Bird has a secret croissant that is only available on weekends? Inside this pretty box is their new Boba Croissant (S$5) that is filled with real bubble tea pearls and milk tea custard.
The croissant had a golden-brown crust with a buttery fragrance and flaked off nicely when I took a bite of it. Inside these delicate croissants was filled with a dense, gooey custard that oozed out.
It even had a smoky, caramelised sweetness that reminded me of brown sugar milk tea.
I could also taste a rich vanilla scent, combined with a slightly bitter tea flavour. I really liked the bitterness of the tea, which cut through the rich and creamy custard and prevented it from being too jelak.
The highlight of the croissant was definitely the chewy mini tapioca pearls. These pearls had a starchy taste and sticky texture which contrasted with the crispy crust.
These croissants make a great breakfast or a quick afternoon pick-me-up. However, I felt that there could be more of the rich and gooey custard within the croissants.
So if you love all things boba, keep a lookout for Brother Bird’s Boba Croissant (S$5)!
