The Bridge Bistro & Beacon Bar: Enjoy Tantalising Western Staples While Enjoying A View Of The Marina At Republic of Singapore Yacht Club

Bridge Bistro & Beacon Bar-1

Hidden within the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club along West Coast Ferry Road, The Bridge Bistro & Beacon Bar offers European staples with an Asian spin added to some of the dishes.

With an al fresco dining area overlooking the marina, this nautical-themed restaurant is the perfect dining spot for get-together with friends or for couples planning a romantic evening.

If you prefer dining indoors, that’s not a problem at all — in fact, the interior boasts tastefully designed wood flooring and furnishings that easily matches up to the elegance of the terrace.

Whether you’re inside or out, one thing’s for certain; this will whisk you away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

For starters, we had the Trio Of Wild Mushrooms Soup ($12). While this may look like any ordinary mushroom soup, we found that this was honestly one of the best ones we’ve had.

Concocted with a blend of portobello, swiss brown and button mushrooms, the soup boasted a distinctive taste yet managed to retain a smooth consistency. Mix around the drizzle of truffle oil and dip in the fresh toast, and I’m sure you will enjoy this completely.

The Port Side Smoked Duck Salad ($16) proves that salads are capable of being delicious too. Featuring fresh mesclun greens and cherry tomatoes tossed around in shallot balsamic vinaigrette, the lightness of the salad served to complement the pan-seared smoked duck rather well. The garnish of pine nuts also added a nice crunch.

A more refreshing alternative, the Thai Citrus Infused Salad ($16) consisted of a mix of fresh mesclun greens tossed in a ginger flower dressing before being topped with orange and grapefruit slices.

The citrus fruit segments provided a tangy burst of sweetness and sourness and that was exactly what made this salad so thirst-quenching.

Arriola’s Burger ($23) made for a hearty combination indeed. Sandwiched in between fresh sesame buns, is a homemade beef patty that was simply bursting with juices. On top of that, it also features a slew of other ingredients including, tomatoes, onions, streaky bacon stuffed with gherkins and gratinated cheddar cheese, which is accompanied by a side of fries and a salad too.

The 300 GM Angus Ribeye ($38) is truly a bang for your buck. Seared to perfection, you could really see how tender the slab of beef is the moment you slice into it. Aside from the meat, the seasonal vegetables and roasted potatoes are worth mentioning too.

Served with a side of sauce, you can either choose to have it with the brown or mustard sauce. Tried and tested, we would recommend the former because it just goes so well with the rib eye steak.

The Bridge’s Signature Chilli Crab Pasta ($26) is certainly one of the more authentic tasting renditions of this pasta dish. Suffice to say, the shredded crab meat that was piled on top came in generous amounts and consisted mostly of rich claw meat.

All this is woven together with a signature chilli crab paste that not only had a hint of sweetness but was slightly spicy, as well. You can choose from either linguine, spaghetti or penne to go with it.

The Escalope Of Seabass ($25) was definitely one of the highlights of our meal. Pan- seared just right, the seabass tasted fresh and was almost melt-in-your-mouth soft.

The fish itself is served atop a bed of homemade potato galette and a bunch of crunchy asparagus. What makes this dish even more delightful, is the spread of saffron cream sauce that really complements the seabass, or any seafood for that matter.

And for dessert, we had the All Time Favourite Signature Chocolate Lava Cake ($10) and a Deck Chocolate Brownie ($8). I’m sure no one can resist these Valrhona dessert offerings that are oh-so decadent. Both the homemade lava cake and chocolate brownie is paired with a scoop of classic vanilla ice cream.

Bridge Bistro & Beacon Bar-3

The Bridge Bistro & Beacon Bar is truly the very definition of mainstream western staples done right. Needless to say, everything from the appetisers to main courses and desserts have won us over. Here is a no-holds-barred concept that you simply can’t find fault with.

Do note that they also offer several daily and weekly specials for menu items, along with beverage promotions. So what are you waiting for? Grab some drinks during happy hour and pair them with popular bar bites!
