I have a soft spot for steamboat meals. They are all about enjoying the company around you, and the social activity of shared cooking rather than culinary skills per se. So, you can understand my enthusiasm when I received an invitation for a preview of The Best of All-You-Can-Eat Steamboat and Barbeque Buffet from Buffet Paradise Dinner (S$29.90 per adult Mon-Thu, S$32.90 Fri-Sun and Public Holidays; S$19.90 for children every day).
With both indoor and alfresco seating available at Wonderfull Food Court, this is a buffet for all seasons.
Your meal at Buffet Paradise begins with a sampler platter of Green-lipped Mussels, Fish-shaped Surimi, Flower Cheese Tofu, Lobster Balls, Toman Fish Slices, Mock Abalone Slices, Sambal Lala in Mini Aluminium Pan, Squid Roll, 4 types of marinated meat, a basket of Garden Greens and 2 types of Assorted Noodles. Oh, what a mouthful, literally!
The buffet spread is massive and there is something for virtually everyone. There are 6 types of marinated chicken and pork in their House Signature Marinade, as well as Mala with a choice of Shabu Shabu Pork Collar and Beef Slices included.
My family and I loved that there was a free flow of condiments as well at Buffet Paradise. We mixed and matched our favourite flavours to make our own personalised meat sauces.
Fresh seafood your thing? Enjoy Hotate (Scallop), Lala, Mussels, Squid Roll, and Fresh Toman Fish Slices. Fans of prawns can have both Vannamei Cooked Prawns with its sweet shrimp taste and raw Deshelled Butterfly Prawns.
Fill up on healthy crisp Garden Greens, Mushrooms, Surimi, and Kyoto Yuba (soft bean curd sheets) to your heart and stomach’s content. Diners can also have one or both of two varieties of soup: Tom Yum and Herbal Chicken. The tom yum was spicy as heck! Being the resident spice wuss in my family, I chickened out for chicken. I found it very flavourful and thoroughly enjoyable!
And then, my friends, comes the coup de grâce (for me, at least)— endless scoops of ice-cream. There are still not very many things that get an automatic stamp of approval from me but unlimited ice-cream is definitely one of them.
Also included in the price is a free flow of fruity cordial drinks. Fancy a beer with your scrumptious meal? You can opt for a free-flow of Hoegaarden Wit-Blanche Original Beer and Beck’s Pilsner (S$15).
Our outing to Buffet Paradise was really fun and very filling. I was impressed by the quality of the ingredients, the flavour of the meat and seafood, and especially the service. It all came together to make for a wonderful dinner and enjoyable family time. For a family of four, this is a great dining out option any day of the week.
