If you frequent or love Bukit Timah Food Centre, I suggest making the most of it while you can. According to CNA, this beloved makan place will be demolished in the 2nd half of 2024.

A representative from the People’s Association (PA) mentioned that stallholders are expected to move from the current food centre to the temporary hawker centre and market in the later part of 2024.

The new 5-storey mixed-use complex that will substitute the decades-old hawker centre, named Bukit Timah Community Building, is set to be ready by 2029. It will feature an indoor sports hall, library, and a new market and hawker centre.

The existing hawkers were notified that the People’s Association (PA) and several agencies have identified an extra purpose for the temporary hawker centre and market, with public sector facilities planned for the 2nd and 3rd floors. The ground floor, where the hawkers operate, will remain unaffected in terms of future operations.

“All existing stallholders at the Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre will have the option of taking up a stall at the new (integrated development), regardless of whether they choose to move to the interim hawker centre and market,” the PA spokesperson said.

Nevertheless, the proprietors of stalls at Bukit Timah Food Centre were already aware of this development, as a briefing was held for existing food centre hawkers on 13 Mar 2023, to inform them about a delay in completing the interim centre. Reportedly, 92 out of 100 stallholders have already registered at the temporary hawker centre and market.
