What’s the secret to the perfect ice cream? A good base of fresh milk, that’s for sure.
Here at Carmen’s Best, they pride themselves on their ice cream that’s made with 100% fresh milk. Coming all the way from the Philippines, Carmen’s Best celebrated its grand opening on 14 December 2019 at Capitol Piazza.
Carmen’s Best started when Paco Magsaysay’s dad, former Senator Jun Magsaysay, set up a farm with a few friends—Real Fresh Dairy Farms Inc. He wanted to provide his customers with the best 100% fresh milk.
They are the only fresh milk processing plant in the Philippines, which means the milk is not pasteurised at ultra-high temperature (UHT) but instead at below boiling point in order to retain the vitamins and minerals in the milk.
Today the shop offers a variety of sweet treats for you to enjoy, such as their Cheese ice cream (S$4.90/scoop), Hokey Pokey (S$4.90/scoop), Butter Pecan (S$4.90/scoop) and many others. Additionally, the shop serves up lovely sundaes and you can have fun with quirky toppings such as Orange Saffron syrup (S$0.50) or even Gold Flakes (S0.50).
Not only are there waffle cones to accompany your ice cream, but you can also order a decadent Lava Cake (S$8.90) with hot oozing chocolate fudge. Doesn’t that just sound really enticing to you?
Seeing Paco’s passion for ice cream develop into what Carmen’s Best is today, I think I’d want to support his new ventures into Singapore’s ice cream market.
