Gardens by the Bay never fails to pull out all the stops during the Christmas Season. Most notable is the Christmas Wonderland, the viral highly-anticipated Yuletide fete in Singapore. However, this year, Gardens by the Bay is also hosting a whole new exhibition: the Christmas Train Show!

Open from now until 5 Jan 2025, the Christmas Train Show is an exhibition of miniature railway trains from the United States. It will run at the Flower Dome from 9am to 9pm daily.

Train shows are a common Christmas tradition in the United States and it is finally coming to life in Singapore.

Combined with the floral imagery of the dome, it will reflect the history behind the design and structure of American railroads and railway systems. The main feature of the exhibition is the beautiful garden railways in the United States.

In the 19th Century, these railways were created by talented craftsmen using steam-powered miniatures for elite European collectors. As they were prone to overheating, they were swiftly relocated to the outdoors.

Now, you can catch garden railroads adorning backyards and winding through mini forests and tunnels. At the Christmas Train Show, 5 such miniature trains pass through iconic US landmarks like the Grand Central Station, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Empire State Building.

The exhibition also showcases the history behind our own MRT systems. Discover the journey behind Singapore’s railway system within a beautiful MRT replica.

Furthermore, the Christmas Train Show pays homage to Raffles Place, the bustling hub of Singapore’s city centre. The architecture of the Raffles Place MRT station was inspired by the large pillars and intricate designs of John Little, Singapore’s  oldest department store.

These railroads hold so much beauty and historical significance.
