CNY 2021: 10 home delivery & takeaway deals for a prosperous and safe Lunar New Year

So the lunar new year’s looking a little different this year. Perhaps the annual dinner gatherings at your favourite restaurants can’t happen, or that you’re going to have to stagger relative visiting timings. Either way, you don’t have to do the planning alone.

Despite the restrictions in place, you best believe that you can still enjoy your darling dishes and that one pen cai you’ve been waiting all year for. When you can’t go to the CNY spread, let it come to you, I say. I’ve rounded up 10 great home delivery and takeaway deals so that we can all get both maximum indulgence and maximum safety this holiday season.

4. Neo Garden Catering

Long lauded for comprehensive buffet services for just about any occasion, it’s a no-brainer that Neo Garden Catering lands itself as one of the favourites when it comes to Lunar New year festivities. And even though party sizes this year will have to be downsized, it shouldn’t mean that the spread should be any less magnificent.

Neo Garden boasts over 10 different types of yu sheng, so you know there’s definitely something for the occasion, no matter the group size. A naturally sweet and healthy iteration of traditional yu sheng, the Rainbow Fruits Yusheng (S$94.16) is the health-conscious’ dream, presenting an assortment of seasonal fruits with zesty orange plum sauce. The Lucky Ox 16″ Yusheng (S$179.76), featuring ingredients arranged to form an ox motif, is almost too cute to be eaten, but will definitely make for a picture-worthy moment just before all that tossing action.

Any Lunar New Year feast would be incomplete without the perennial meats and fish, and at Neo Garden, the decadent Truffle Roasted Duck (S$95.02), Chongqing Spicy Fragrant Whole Sea Bass In Claypot (S$95.02), and Chilli Crab Sauce Crayfish W/ Fried Mantou (S$95.02) are amongst the most popular picks. All boast familiar flavours that every member of the family can appreciate, but also with a clever twist of fiery spice or fragrant truffle that keep each dish interesting yet palatable.

There also exists vegetarian options at Neo Garden with their Filial Set (S$179.76) that includes braised beancurd with mushrooms, eight treasures loh han chye, and golden mushrooms medley fritters, or the Longevity Set (S$222.56) that comprises kungpao monkey mushroom, golden yam fritters, and asparagus with lotus roots—both of which feed four to six guests.

Add a saccharine finish to the meal with the classic Yam Paste With Gingko Nut (S$41.52) that’s served hot, hearty Glutinous Rice Balls in Ginger Soup (S$35.10), or—what I’ve personally got my eye on—the Cranberry Pu-er Butter Cake (S$35.10), which sounds like a delightfully interesting play on dessert flavours.

Place your orders as early as possible to secure some solid feasting, and be sure to keep a watchful eye on Neo Garden’s Instagram page for a chance to win CNY goodies for you and your loved ones too.
