Practically Thailand’s national emblem, the tuk tuk is at the heart of the authentic Thai experience for most visitors. But what if you take the iconic tuk tuk and combine it with Malaysia’s favourite wedding food, the nasi tomato? D’Tomato Street, of course! Located in Tanjung Tokong, this stall is the first-ever in Penang to sell nasi tomato on a cute orange tuk tuk.

It’s also fascinating to note that the D’Tomato Street is helmed by former DOME chef, Syed Izwar— so you know the food will not dissapoint! Penangites will be delighted to learn that the owner cooks up an assortment of mouth-watering Malay dishes to pair along with the Nasi Tomato (RM2.50). For those of you who are unfamiliar with what nasi tomato is, it is a type of rice often served at weddings and has a sweet, tart-like taste.

Some of the side dishes offered at D’Tomato Street are Daging Kicap (RM3.40), Kambing Kurma (RM7), Ayam Ros (RM4.50), Kerabu Timun (RM2.30) and Kepala Ikan (RM10.20). But don’t miss out on their Ayam Goreng Berempah (RM4.50) which is the highlight of the menu. It’s crispy, juicy and pairs so well with the nasi tomato.

Swing by this D’Tomato Street’s cute little tuk tuk in Tanjung Tokong to satisfy your nasi tomato cravings today!
