You heard that right. Crowd-favourite Fei Ma Hakka Yong Tau Foo is back where it started at Tanjong Pagar Plaza in the CBD. “The best Hakka Yong Tau Foo?” How can?!

Take it from this loyal customer who patronised the store “consecutively twice this week.” And another, who effectively got this point across: “Best Yong Tau Foo (YTF) I dare say!!! Freshly made and freshly cooked!” Three times a charm lah hor. Here’s one more: “Rare gem!!! Easily the best yong tau foo in Bukit Merah if not in SG.”

Eh, Bukit Merah not Tanjong Pagar? Let’s go back a few months.

After housing the family-run Fei Ma Hakka Yong Tau Foo for a good 17 years, the coffeeshop at Tanjong Pagar unexpectedly changed hands recently. This resulted in Perak-born Mrs Puan Siew Kam and her daughter Jace moving out of the vicinity in Nov 2023.

Fortunately, they managed to reopen their stall at SG Kopitiam (at Bukit Merah Central) in Jan 2024.

Fast forward to now. According to Jace, the mother-daughter duo received a “good offer” at their “老地方 ” (old place). A space that used to attract long queues daily during lunchtime. Operating for less than half a year, they had to bid goodbye to their short-lived location at Bukit Merah. So?

Welcome back to Tanjong Pagar.

Given the history of their authentic Hakka stall, rest assured that you can enjoy their proprietary stuffed handmade delights at wallet-friendly prices. With a minimum of 6 pieces, each piece of yong tau foo is priced at S$0.80. From meat-paste tau kwa to fish-paste bitter gourd, expect a vibrant variety of al la carte choices made with love.

Want some crunch-tastic indulgence? Choose from their variety of deep-fried options like my favourite, tau kee.

What’s more, Fei Ma Hakka Yong Tau Foo serves a special something that has a satisfying punch. Spice lovers, you’ll love this. Instead of your usual clean-tasting broth, complement that bowl of yong tau foo with Laksa Gravy (S$1 add-on). Soak it all up with your choice of noodles — mee, kway teow and mee tai mak, all at S$0.80 each!

Psst. Word on the street is that this is not the typical coconut milk-rich laksa. Yielded from the briny essence of hae bee, Fei Ma’s version is packed with umami goodness and definitely a must-try. I’ll slurp it all up till the very last drop.

Is this truly “the best Hakka Yong Tau Foo?” You find out.
