Aah, the perennially satisfying donburi bowl that is perfect for lunch, dinner, and even supper. Plus, there’s no better donburi than the hearty and gratifying hawker donburi bowl. With nine-day-old Fúkudon at Marine Parade Market Central Food Market, it seems like lunchtime is looking up. The heat and the noise of a hawker centre makes wolfing down donburi all the more satisfying.

Specially curated by Chef Remus, these bowls are no run-of-the-mill, average Andy bowls. Chef Remus carefully curates bowls to Fúkudon’s five key aspects, namely texture, color, flavour, smell and harmony. You can see why they call themselves the ‘Asian Fusion Donburi Specialist’.

There are the classics that you can’t do without like the Chicken Breast Oyakodon (S$5.80) or the value-for-money Katsu Platter (S$6.60) which comes with Aburi Mentaiko Pork Belly, Chicken Breast Katsu, Breaded Pork Belly. Now, tell me that’s not a fantastic lunch?

All these goodies are sure to perk you up for the rest of the day or even if you sink into the depths of a food coma.

If you must try something, then go for the Pork Belly Katsu Don (S$6.60). One of Fúkudon’s signature bowls, this one features thick, crunchy, succulent slices of pork lovingly simmered with eggs and onions and laid over with Fúkudon’s special sauce.

There are other more exciting donburis up for grabs such as the Spicy Garlic Pork Collar Don W/ Onsen Egg (S$6.60) and the Sukiyaki Beef Short Plate Don W/Onsen Egg (S$6.90).

It has only been a week, but according to their Instagram, they’ve been selling out like crazy, so I do suggest making your way down early if you can.
