Home to many great stalls and cult favourites, the beloved Geylang Serai Market and Food Centre will temporarily shut down on 29 Jul 2024 for a 13-week renovation program. During this period, major renovations will be undertaken to enhance the outlook of the place while maintaining a pleasant dining environment for all.

As part of the standard Repairs and Redecoration (R&R) works conducted every 6 to 8 years within hawker centres, Geylang Serai Market’s renovations will be carried out in conjunction with the Hawker Centres Transformation Programme (HTP), announced earlier this year which will go beyond the usual R&R scope.

The renovations will include improvements such as replacement of tables and seats, extensive re-tiling, and the renovation of toilets among others.

During this time, as stall owners are unable to operate, their rent will be waived by the National Environment Agency (NEA). They will also have the option to temporarily relocate their business to other hawker centres upon request – however, that’s subjected to availability.

More importantly, there will be no increase in stall rentals as a result of the improvements, so expect your favourite stalls to be up and running again when Geylang Serai Market and Food Centre reopens on 1 Nov 2024.

Make sure to head down for a final, temporary goodbye to some of your favourites before the renovation begins!
