Golden Scissors Curry Rice might be a familiar name to regular patrons of the Geylang hawker centre. After all, this humble business has been a reliable source of affordable hawker fare since 2021.

The prices used to be lower, at S$3.20 per dish, but even hawkers are victims of the rising GST. Currently, the most pocket-friendly option is Set 5, Braised Tau Gua & Tau Pok Curry Rice, at S$4.

The other sets are also relatively affordable at S$4.20 each

Pork lovers must go for sets 1 or 2, Braised Pork Belly or Pork Chop Curry Rice. Craving chicken? Consider Set 3, Chicken Wing Curry Rice and Set 4, Chicken Chop Curry Rice.

Add-ons such as extra rice, chicken wing, pork chop and egg cost between S$0.60 and S$2.

Craving more meat and veggies? The range of additional ingredients is sure to impress.

For those who like the sponginess of fried pork skin, look out for their other specialities like Fried Pork Skin Stew to feast on.

There are unique selections available occasionally, such as Sharkfish Fillets, which are a recurring customer favourite. Shark meat is considered a delicacy in Chinese cuisine, so it’s no wonder they sell out fast.

Hungry for curry rice? Drop by Golden Scissors Curry Rice for their affordable sets during your next Geylang trip. Remember to arrive before 5.30pm for lunch before they close for the day. And if you’re lucky, you can give their Sharkfish Fillets a shot.
