Since Michelin-starred food is a recognition of the highest standard of taste, it usually comes with a hefty price tag. Hawker Chan is famously known to serve the cheapest Michelin-starred delicious soya sauce chicken rice at an affordable price. And now there’ll be an outlet opening in Ipoh, Malaysia on 16 March 2019!

As chef-owner Chan Hon Meng himself was born in Ipoh, he’s going back to his roots and opening the first Hawker Chan outlet there. During their pre-opening event on 26 February 2019, thousands of people turned up for a taste of soya sauce chicken.

Although Ipoh has its own style of chicken rice, it seems like Malaysians still like this Hong Kong-style recipe.

For those who are not fans of the signature Soya Sauce Chicken Rice, they also serve other popular favourites. These include Char Siew, Roasted Pork, Hor Fun, Wanton Noodles and Vegetables.

This new Malaysian outlet gets its poultry directly from Ipoh, which means their meat is even fresher.

Their chicken rice starts from RM6.80, which is still super affordable, especially for Michelin-starred food.

Hawker Chan received its Michelin Star in 2016 and has continued to maintain its one-star status in both 2017 and 2018. Chef Chan himself will be at the grand opening of the stall on 16 March 2019.

If you happen to be in Ipoh at that time, drop by to check it out and let us know if it tastes the same as the one back home!

Dates & Times: 16 March 2019, 11am – 8pm (grand opening)

Prices: From RM6.80
