First Dibs: Delectably adorable Hello Kitty afternoon high tea at Anti:dote, Fairmont Singapore

This whimsical afternoon high tea experience inspired by Sanrio’s most famous feline, Hello Kitty, calls out to fans of all ages. 

Did the last Hello Kitty shabu shabu pop-up leave you craving for more? Or experiencing FOMO because you couldn’t make it? We come meowing good news— Anti:dote at Fairmont Singapore is about to make up for that!

Get your paws ready to immerse in a special, limited-edition Hello Kitty tea time indulgence set to run from 2 March to 30 April 2022. What’s there to look forward to? Anti:dote’s signature white chest laden with edible works of culinary art suitable for kids, teenagers, and adults. 

Avid fans eager for a first look at the super-cute sensation can visit the larger-than-life figurine at Fairmont Singapore’s lobby from 25 February to 30 April 2022. Upon arrival, a giant Hello Kitty figurine, spruced up in green, will deliver your welcome message and offer the purrfect backdrop for an Instagram-worthy picture. 

Of course, I made my way down to the stylish cocktail bar to indulge in this fantastic ode to childhood and all the whimsy it possesses. Sometimes, revisiting the things you loved as a kid can bring immense joy to adulthood. Happy to say this indulgent afternoon high tea did exactly that for me!

First impression: Hurry, click a hundred pics, and post on IG! What lay on my table was a feast for my eyes, let alone my taste buds. The pretty chest of drawers filled with goodies got my camera snapping away. The tea set features an assortment of Instagram-worthy savoury and sweet creations (which I will get to in a bit).

But first, I was delightfully surprised with the adorable entry of the Hello Kitty mocktail—  a revitalising pink Flamingo Tea blended with milk, strawberry, rose citric acid, and aquafaba. Alternatively, you could opt for a Dear Daniel— an ethereal drink, this concoction consists of cucumber butterfly pea, apple, citric acid, and coconut cream. After oohing and aahing over the impressively intricate details of the pretty drinks, I found my favourite— the Hello Kitty (there’s something about me and strawberries).  

What would tea time be without some sandwiches? And not just your ordinary sandwiches, but Hello Kitty-adorned delectable assortment of quiches, and buns stuffed with caviar and crab meat; smoked salmon and trout roe with homemade lox; and a chunky barbeque-glazed Kurobuta pork. I must say the unique condiments make them one-of-a-kind.

Despite my indescribable obsession for all things sweet, I have to admit I’ve always taken preference to high tea sets which offer a substantial selection of savouries too (there’s only so much of sweets I can eat, really).

Fellow dessert-lovers in the house? You’ll love the floral grapefruit rose and waffle tea cake that offers the perfect balance of citrus-sweet. This is in addition to a whole array of sweet treats including choux puff piped with a creamy lychee custard filling, coffee bonbon capsules, cookies and red currant macarons.

The round-off of the tea experience— Madagascan vanilla scone served with lemon butter curd and strawberry marmalade, and Devonshire clotted cream. The Hello Kitty afternoon high tea leaves you with a happy tummy, an insane amount of photos, and the need to call your friends to share your kiddish excitement.
