One of Tokyo’s most talked-about wagyu hamburg steak concepts, Hikiniku To Come is set to open its first Malaysian outlet! Launched in Tokyo in 2020, its upcoming location was recently spotted at Sunway Pyramid.

The brand has built a strong following for doing one thing exceptionally well. Its signature offering centres on charcoal-grilled 100% beef patties served over rice, paired with a raw egg, and meant to be eaten immediately at peak freshness.

At the heart of the concept is its “three fresh” philosophy, which guides every element of the meal. The beef is ground in-house daily under carefully controlled conditions, then shaped quickly to preserve its texture before being grilled over charcoal for a subtle smokiness.

Each patty is kept to a modest 90g, allowing it to be enjoyed at its best from the first bite to the last. The rice receives equal attention — cooked continuously in traditional iron pots so that every refill arrives hot, fluffy, and consistent.

The menu is intentionally streamlined, focusing on a single set that includes 3 hamburg steaks, freshly cooked rice with complimentary refills, miso soup, house-made condiments, pickles, and a raw egg

The experience is designed to unfold in stages. Diners are encouraged to begin with the patty on its own to appreciate the natural flavour of the beef, followed by a second serving with grated daikon and ponzu for a lighter contrast, and finishing with egg for a richer, more indulgent bite.

As the meal progresses, the rice absorbs the juices from the meat, becoming an essential part of the overall experience.

Following its expansion into cities such as Taipei, Hong Kong, Seoul, Bangkok, Jakarta, and Shanghai, the brand’s arrival in Malaysia marks its next step in the region. An official opening date of Hikiniku To Come’s first Malaysian outlet has yet to be announced, so stay tuned!
