The new Hotel Jen Orchardgateway is one of the most vibrant and convenient hotels to stay in Singapore. Again personifying the character ‘Jen’ just like its counterpart hotel at Tanglin, hotel Jen yearns to convey passion for travel and life through her wonderful hotel.
Located directly above Orchardgateway mall, Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore is interconnected with three other shopping malls providing a seamless, weather-proof shopping experience and direct underground access to Somerset MRT station which makes public transportation a breeze.
You can enter from the basement entrance of Orchard gateway, then take the lift to the main lobby, or enter from the mall straight to the lobby. Thereupon there’s another set of lifts that lead up to the rooms.
The spacious lobby is decked in jade and marble for a more prestigious and modern feel, welcoming guests into the hotel warmly.
Phone Charging lockers are available all around the hotel as well for the convenience of always-connected guests as well. Unfortunately, when we were there the iPhone sockets seems to be malfunctioning.
A takeaway ‘On The Go’ snack bar is also located just beside the lobby for hungry guests to buy on their way out should they crave anything, or want to eat at the airport.
Lounge @JEN
The lounge is open to all hotel guests which allows for a relaxing day of well, lounging around on the plush sofas.
The Hi Tea buffet spread happening in the lounge every weekend from 3-5pm is a pretty good deal at just $23++ too.
The focus of the lounge’s Hi-tea was very much on local and Asian flavours, with items such as Satay, Carrot Cake, Makis, Kueh Tie mixed with sandwiches and scones. Guests won’t have to step out of the hotel to experience the taste of Asia.
With the Hi-tea buffet set, you also get free flow espresso coffee and branded teas, making it very worthwhile to indulge.
Let’s check out the room soon shall we?
I loved the practical touches along the way to the rooms, including a vending machine for your midnight cravings as well as trolleys for luggage.
Panorama Club Room
Take your breath away in the Panaroma club room, located at the corner of the building for that double angled view of the city.
I have the admit the layout of the room is rather odd, being angular and long rather than wide.
The Panaroma Club room starts from 41 sqm in size, with a king sized bed an en-suite bathroom and of course, the panoramic view of orchard road.
Located along the walkway to the bed, the bathroom is small but still features a bathtub and a shower cubicle.
The urban view from this room is captivatingly mesmerizing, and you can keenly observe the development thought process that went into Orchard road.
Club Lounge
One of my favorite perks at a luxury hotel is the club lounge access, which of course, the Panorama club room comes with.
The club lounge also presents a panoramic view of the cityscape, albeit an even bigger one than the club room.
And the customary benefit of club lounges is to have free flow alcoholic beverages from a specific time, Hotel Jen’s being 5.30pm – 7.30pm for that pre-dinner tipple.
I’m just really fascinated by the automated wine dispenser, which is dispense out wine fuss free and easily while saving on manual labour work. Brilliant idea which I think all lounges should start implementing.
Some cold cuts and a glass of wine by the scenic bar makes the club lounge a delightable pass-time indeed.
For dinner and breakfast, you can check out MAKAN @JEN, which also serves a seafood dinner buffet on Friday and Saturday evenings at $60++.
Read our full review on Makan for a better understanding of the spread.
BayWatch @JEN
Ah the pool, also known as BayWatch here, is a well-known signature feature of the hotel.
Why is it well-known? Because this particular pool features a stunning ‘infinity’ pool with an edge that seems to fall off the building. The view would have been a lot nicer if they removed the glass barriers though, and just went with a safety ledge below the pool like some of the other infinity pools.
Nonetheless, the sheer length and lack of crowds in this ‘infinity’ pool gets 2 thumbs up from me any day. You can’t really appreciate this architectural beauty if your view is blocked every 5 seconds by a human head.
The combination of style, technology and easy-efficiency makes Hotel Jen Orchardgateway an amazing experience despite only being a 4 star hotel. Facilities are clean, generous with space and fulfills very practical needs for guests.
As you explore the hotel, you discover new aspects like their phone charging stations, vending machines, flavoured drink stations and even a free magazine app reader – all building up your impression to an enjoyable stay. Definitely a recommend hotel in Singapore in my books.
Expected Damage: From $215++ per night
