K-dramas, K-pop, Korean delicacies, you name it. It’s undeniable that Korean culture has influenced our daily lifestyle. However, one element that is frequently overlooked is halal Korean food, which is not common at all. Step in Muslim-owned and halal-certified JW Korean Food Story, which is helmed by ex-Pan Pacific chef Safwan Kamal.
Having previously worked at various restaurants and hotels, Safwan decided to take up the new challenge of setting up his own stall.
The main objective was to serve mouth-watering and affordable halal Korean food, and JW Korean Food Story has proved to be a hit so far.
Operating from its new home at 129 Upper Paya Lebar Road, JW Korean Food Story is best known for its Army Stew Steamboat (S$24.80).
It is packed with an assortment of ingredients, including a variety of meats and vegetables swimming in a pot of red, tangy soup. You’d certainly be able to smell the aroma emitted by the broth wafting through the area.
For seafood lovers, this one is for you. Dig into their Spicy Seafood Soft Tofu Soup (S$6.30) with brown rice. This dish includes seafood favourites such as clams, prawns, and squid topped off with garnish and house-made kimchi.
Besides soups, there is also a hearty selection of meat available, ranging from grilled chicken, beef, and even fish. Furthermore, the wide range of BBQ, ramen, and zi char dishes at JW Korean Food Story will leave customers simply spoilt for choice.
JW Korean Food Story shared on its social media that the team will be creating and introducing more halal Korean dishes along the way. I wonder what they’ll come up with next?
