The beloved family-owned Korean eatery Kim Dae Mun, located on the first floor of Concorde Shopping Mall, will be closing after its final day of service on 30 Nov 2025.

The tragic news dropped on the eatery’s official Facebook account on the unassuming afternoon of 1 Oct 2025, with little to no information given other than their final day of operations.

Kim Dae Mun has had a storied history, first opening as a stall in the mall’s food court before moving to a standalone eatery on the second, then first floor.

But the eatery doesn’t just provide good food. Many patrons appreciate the cosy atmosphere of the restaurant, which is reminiscent of a school canteen. Little things like the exposed black ceiling, glaring white lights, and simple tables and chairs.

It’s an unintentional stylistic choice that resonated with many. Yes, it’s not the most glamorous. But the best food is often found in the oddest locations.

Fan favourites include their Kimchi Soup (S$10.50), which is a little on the sour side.

Their Spicy Pork (S$11.50) comes with rice, soup, and a side of kimchi

Kim Dae Mun was never about the shining polish and soft cushions of a chain restaurant, or Instagrammable overpriced food sold in trendy cafes or pasar malams. People come back because Kim Dae Mun provides an authentic and homely taste that they can’t find anywhere else.

Currently, no information has been released about why Kim Dae Mun is closing down. Perhaps the eatery has become the latest victim of soaring rent for hawkers and restaurants in Singapore.

No matter, you have about 2 months to plan your final visit and cherish their soulful Korean food one last time.
