In Malaysia, malls are everywhere — seriously, you can’t go far without passing one. I can name at least 5 on my daily commute. And soon, another will join the scene. Set to open in the 3rd quarter of 2025, Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC Mall) will make its debut in Bukit Kiara.

Following the success of KL East Mall and the recent launch of Elmina Lakeside Mall, KLGCC Mall will be Sime Darby Property’s 3rd fully-owned shopping destination.

Nestled within the prestigious KLGCC Resort, the mall sits beside the Sime Darby Convention Centre and offers stunning views of Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club. It also shares the space with Senada Residences and Menara KLGCC.

Just 20 minutes from KL’s popular attractions like KL Bird Park, Suria KLCC, and Chinatown, KLGCC Mall is a natural fit for the city’s ever-growing retail landscape — whether we need another mall or not!

KLGCC Mall is set to impress with over 80 tenants spread across 600K square feet of retail space. Expect major names like Jaya Grocer, Serai Group’s new flagship store, ACE Hardware, Asia Ballet Academy, and Malaysia’s 1st HarborLand kids’ playground to take centre stage.

Food lovers can look forward to ParaThai, Pepper Lunch, Banglo 289, and Gula Cakery Petite — brands that, while popular, aren’t typically found in malls like AEON or MyTown. This curated mix gives KLGCC Mall a major selling point.

While many — myself included — are excited for KLGCC Mall’s grand debut, some can’t help but question if KL really needs another mall.

The city is already packed with them, and for every thriving retail hub, there’s a so-called “dead” mall lurking in the background — 3 Damansara and IOI Mall Damansara (formerly Tropicana Mall and Tropicana Gardens Mall, respectively) being prime examples.

Personally, I wouldn’t call them “dead” — just more of a local favourite than a bustling hotspot. But what do you think? Is KLGCC Mall a smart addition or just another mall in an already crowded market? Let us know!
