KTM launches direct KL to Hat Yai train service for 2026 travel

Planning a trip to Hat Yai soon? Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has announced the launch of a direct charter train service connecting KL Sentral and Hat Yai, offering travellers a more seamless rail option between Malaysia and southern Thailand.

The approximately around 11-hour service is introduced as part of KTM’s seasonal travel offerings, designed to simplify cross-border journeys without the need for multiple transfers.

The KL Sentral to Hat Yai service operates as Train No 1004, departing KL Sentral at 10.30pm and arriving in Hat Yai at 8.50am Thailand time the following morning. En route, the train makes scheduled stops at Sungai Buloh, Ipoh, Taiping and Padang Besar

The return service, Train No 1005, departs Hat Yai at 10.20am Thailand time and arrives at KL Sentral at 11.15pm, serving the same stations in reverse order.

KTM has confirmed selected travel dates for the charter service. Departures from KL Sentral are scheduled for 30 Jan & 27 Mar 2026, while return journeys from Hat Yai will take place on 2 Feb & 30 Mar 2026

Tickets are priced from RM95 for a one-way journey and may be purchased as either one-way or return tickets. Fares are applicable for adult passengers only and are valid exclusively for travel between KL Sentral and Hat Yai. No tickets are available for children, concession holders, or free pass users.

Passengers should note that ticket prices do not include meals or beverages, and ticket cancellations are subject to KTM’s existing terms and procedures. Tickets are available for purchase via KTMB’s official online platforms — website and the KITS Style application.
