We’ve seen a fair share of bakery closures as of late, and unfortunately, Lee’s Confectionery is joining the ranks. The bakery will be closing its doors permanently on 1 Oct 2023.

Lee’s Confectionery made this announcement on their social media pages on 3 Sep 2023. Though they did not cite the reason for the closure, they thanked their customers for their support of the business.

Lee’s Confectionery is located at Block 343 in Jurong East. The minimalist cafe is run by an experienced pastry chef who graduated from Ferrandi Paris, and they had just reopened last September.

Before they close, be sure to get your hands on their pretty bakes for the last time. Some options to consider include Madu (S$9.50), a cake made with honey joys, cornflakes crumble, honey caramel and Horlicks mascarpone cream, or Otto (S$10.20), a cute pistachio-shaped cake clamped between 2 almond tart shells.

Matcha fanatics should go for Lee’s Confectionery’s Dale (S$9.50) cake, consisting of matcha yuzu white chocolate ganache and matcha sponge on top of a butter cookie. Are you crazy for taro? You must try Ouni (S$9.50), a crispy choux pastry filled with coconut cream, shallot oil infused taro paste and taro chunks, topped with a sprinkle of fried shallots.

You can even get ice cream and sorbet by the pint from Lee’s Confectionery. How about some Pistachio Ice Cream (S$18) or Mango Sorbet (S$14) to cool off?

Many beloved bakeries have closed this year alone. Mentega Patisserie just shuttered in July, while my personal favourite bakery, Beccarino’s Patisserie, also shut down its operations in June. Even earlier this year, The Whisking Well closed in January after 4 years of operations.

We wish the owners of Lee’s Confectionery all the best with their future endeavours and we hope to one day see them return to the local F&B scene.
